Can the insert of the door handle - specifically the painted section under the handle itself be removed for painting. If so, how?

I think you'll have to take the door apart. I've never noticed external screws anywere, so they'll all got to be inside. Why do you want to take it off to paint it? What to paint it yellow? That seems like something you would do, ricer. But you should be able to just sand and spot paint it, if you going the same color that is.
EDIT: Dissregard this, I thought you ment outer handle. This post has been edited by Bigmeanbulldog55: Feb 15, 2006 - 10:05 PM -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

I tried this a few years ago because my red handles were turning pink, if I remember correctly you can only take the whole thing out from under the door panel. I don't think you can easily separate the painted section under the handle without breaking it. I ended up roughing up everything I could, masking the door, and just spraying the whole thing black. It came out ok, but it was tough to mask the lock so it looked kindof ****ty.

If so, how? to answer the original question, yes. Take your innner door panel off, remove or cut through the wind niose plastic and remove 2 bolts (10mm I believe) then you have to "pop" out 2 bars (1 for door open and one for the lock/unlock) this is a pic of the back side (all I have right now) the orange piece is one you have to pop off from the bar (I can't explain too well, itr is easy if you see yourself) ![]() if you have any questions, let me know -------------------- |
