it could be a number of internal problems.

how was your oil level?

were you turning or in a long sweeping bend or an on/off ramp?

its *possible* (i dont know the 5sfe oil pan) that if you were on a long sweeper and low on oil that you sucked some air into the oiling system and that spun a bearing.

in general how do you treat the car? do you drive it hard often? do you let it warm up for atleast a couple minutes before taking off?

its also possible that you spun a bearing or seized/broke a rod out of the blue....but thats less likely.

exactly how low were you?

well..i was on the hwy..and then i was gettin on the off ramp and the car died..generally..i do both type of driving habits..sometimes i drive normal..sometimes hard...as of oil level..it was..i'd say a lil less than the halfway mark...which isnt horrible

less than the halfway mark is pretty bad!

im saying this again so you understand. less than 1/2 is BAD.

and one more time

less than 1/2 is BAD.

it sounds like you spun a bearing (initial sound) then when you kept driving on it seized the rod to the crank and threw the rod making your engine now a 3cylinder or a giant paper weight.
