Hey, so i was going through my garage today, and came across a bag with a bunch of speakers i bought back when i had my supra. I was thinkin "maybe i should put these in the celi, but, i didnt know where. So i though, what about the Hatch cover?? But then i started thinking, how would that sound?? Would it rattel the crap out of it?? Im still not 100% on weather or not i wanna do this. It was just an idea that came 2 my head.

yes its been done before... i believe you just make cutouts in the cover and put them in... of course make sure everything is snug so rattle is eliminated, but this is def possible, ive seen pics on here with a couple guys that have done it

![]() This is from 3TST's profile. I know it can be done, im not asking how 2 do it. Im more asking would the vibration from the speakers make the cover rattel alot?? Mine rattels already when i go over a bump in the road, so im askin how much more does it rattel. Also, how does it sound?? Does the soundwaves bouncing off the rear glass project the sound?? Does it absorb it? Does the sound not travel well? Is this a decent spot to mount speakers?? Is it worth my time?? Thats what im asking, not has it been done, can it be done etc..sorry to sound like an ass, but i mean dont just read the title of the post and make your comments off that. |

I put 6x9s in my back hatch cover and the sound is excellent. The sound reflects off the glass perfectly and I have no problems with rattling or banging around back there. Actually it was the best choice I made for sound in the car.

I will not do it. All the speaker you need is the front two if you are speaking in a sound quality perspective. if it is decent speakers, mounting them on something flimsy like the parcel tray is also not going to help much.
Spare the parcel tray from it. I took a loooong time to find a parcel tray that hasnt been butchered to put 6x9s in. Think twice, before cutting ![]() |

I had done this thing and i regret it very soon..
Except from the vibrations, in a month my hatch cover was destroyed.. The bent that caused by speakers weight, was horrible and i had to buy from toyota a new cover, for about 350$... The two tubes that the cover has for reinforcement are not enough to keep the weight, and this thing also affected the (i dont know how do you call them) two suspensions(??) that keep the hatch door open.. The heavy wing plus the weight of the cover with the woofers made these things so weak, that i have to hold the door with my hand in order not to fall in my head when i am looking into the hatch.. You can remove the two cords that connect the cover with the hatch door, but even in that way you have still to face the problem of cover bent.. I would not suggest it.. |

hey whats up? ive had mine in the rear hatch a week after i got and they sound great, just cut the hole and sit them in it, very easy. ne ?'s just send me a pm. the only vibration i have is from the center tag assembly but u could fix that with some kind of insulation like dynomat, or somethin like it, the reason for this is the 3 subs in the trunk. not the speakers in the hatch. it may be to late to post when i get it done but when it is ill post the pics of my finished sound system. later

In the past i have made a lot of stupid things to get the maximum db, and it cost me a fortune to get the interior of my celi in a decent condition.. Maybe somebody would like these kind of mods, but i think that it was the most horrible thing that i did to my car!! Take a look and tell me your thoughts about these modifications.. Would you like to have an interior like this? ![]() ![]() |

One thing that I see is that none of the MID's speakers in the doors are facing the driver. With your money you should of you went with SQ and make the best SQ celica. -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

werd..lol
just curious, how do you wire these up?...amp? or just tap into the oem speaker wires?? edit: i also have a 4channel powering my sub, could i use the sub on just bass and then wire up the speakers to the amp and still get full audio out of the speakers?? I'm wondering the same thing. Would splicing into the rear speakers and wiring up some 6x9's make a noticible difference juice wise. BTW I don't have an amp or sub so all of the speakers would be running of the headunit.
