This is the 3 attemt to build the pods for the celica... Had this idea floating around long enouth till SnapshotGT came and kicked me biggrin.gif Well - had to give it a try.. This is the center dash pod, exactly this one in pics is still a prototipe - and there are few minor issues with it - so the second one im building will have everything fixed. This one sits a bit too low, and gauges arent directed towards the driver as much as i wanted. The new one will have the Clock visibility issue fixed, and aimed more at the driver + gauges will sit a bit more higher. Looks will be the same. This one will be for 52mm gauges.

Here are few pics - let me know what you guys think about this.

Its sits flush on the dash, just what in these pics i didnt wanted to glue it totaly, so i used only one strip of the double side tape..

And dont ask about the Triple A-pillar what you can see in these pics - i will write about it later once i will finish with it totaly. this one what is visible in pics was made for a client (my ex celica owner) and i will see if it will be posible to get it in prduction.

That is one of the coolest things ive seen, i like that waaay better then the side pillar guages. I think once you get them the way you want them they'r going to be perfect. The one thing id worry about is how permanent are they? How do the wires get down where they need to be?

All the wires goes between center dash plastic and dash, i made the pod what way - that i will cover the top piece of the center plastic , so you can just put the wires there , cuz there is enouth room to get them in thi place + the pod cover them totaly.

I will be installing this prototipe tomorow to a cliens GT4, will get pics of how everything goes, and where i put the wiring and etc.

i really like the concept but id like to see pics of it fully glued down, seems like it might look a little "rubbermade" since the edges stick out like a sore thumb.

cant wait to see the final product, im sure it will look great

edit: you would be my bestest friend if you could make a spot in the shifter surround for a SAFC...

Hmmph! Fine. Second in line. tongue.gif If these are going to be available within the next few weeks though, I've got a BIG decision to make. Go with the center mount or pillar mount for the Auto Meter Nexus Gauges I've got sitting here for Dr Tweak to put in with the new motor. biggrin.gif

The pod looks great.. would the gauges end up tilted somewhat up.. to have a better view for the driver?? and are they visible outside from normal driving?? for those who want to keep theirs "sleeper"

Good Job!

He said that they will be adjusted in his post. And theres a good chance that no matter where you put 3 guages they wont be too hidden very well unless they are down in the center part of the car.

3rd in line. That is awsome Romas. I liked the shifter idea, but i think this is a bit more pracitcal. for mounting though, can you screw this to the dash? or is it more glueing. Also, would the gaudges need to be held in with the attachment they come with? or are they pressure fitted??

Gauges are press fited in it using some bouble tape or just snug fit biggrin.gif Pod itself is hold in place by double side gluing take (like 3M and etc).

The new one will have the Clock visibility issue fixed, and aimed more at the driver + gauges will sit a bit more higher.

I sure hope he's producing these things soon. I got my Lotek pillar pod in today and I'm going to have to do a LOT of trimming to get it to fit properly, but worse.....

I HATE the gauge placement after trial fitting the pod. No way that's going to happen.

Doggy, count me in 100% when you start taking orders. I have absolutely no want to put that Lotek pod into my car at this point (but sadly may have to if yours aren't ready when my swap happens next month).

Good work my man biggrin.gif I've thought of something similar to this set up too, but to have the gauges moulded into the top section of the dash, just above the heater/cooler fan directors.

Keep us posted!

I have now 3 pieces ready for painting. Pods will be painted in Satin Black with tiny texture in it to give the surface granes. Only thing what needs to be figured out now is how to fix it to the dash. Prototipe was fixed using Double side tape and it holded perfect. If the products will hold the same everything will be ready for the first 3 people to get them.

Well, i have 10 pieces ready to be painted, just what im still trying to find the best paint to match the graines of the stock plastc pieces. Another thing what keeps me worried is what it sits on top of the dash and it is in direct sunlights, with makes it a bit soft after it warms up. I recently installed one into my Ex ST, and i have some pics, so if everything is ok - i will be posting them up tonight.

Another things what keeps me away from this projects is inormal heat over here, its 95F and huge humidity, so its practicly imposible to work during the day, so all i have is only evenings...

I will keep you guys posted.

Well, the Test one is in the car already over all the heat we have here, so i will see how it goes, and see how it will hold on. As for now - everything was fine with it smile.gif

As promissed - finally here are the pics of the Finall style Center Gauge pod - mounted, with gauges and etc. The paint on this one in the pics isnt the one what all the pods will be painted. Basicly, i installed this one in my Ex ST-T to see how it will hold up, how it will react to heat and all the other stuff. But as it seems - everything is going ok so far smile.gif

Sorry for the quality of pics - but all i had was my mobile the day i finished all the works with the Center Piece (installed TV / DVD, and E-manage into shifter surounding along with the open / close doors over it)

Will try to get better pics later, once he will get back to my garage.

I'm not saying sticky this thread, but sticky a thread listing all of the stuff he sells, Making them easier to find for new members, would kill off kindof stupid questions like where can I buy TRD extensions (which I've asked) or what is that thing called that is over the gauge cluster. etc. Just and idea, Not that I expect ppl to approve.
