Are you serious about the Average in the USA??? the average is about 2.90 per gallon. I know for you 3s-gte guys premium is not looking good on wallets ouch!!! I myself use premium but since the average in the Bay area is like 3 dollars i choose to go back to regular 87

your 7afe was designed to run on 87, any "running better" symptoms you have by using 92 are pyschological..

using anything other than the cheapest **** you can find on a 5sfe or 7afe is just throwing money right out the window

It pre-ignites! (pings) Maybe it was designed for it
but it still runs like crap, not psychological.

^^

I use the cheapest I can, it's only a Corolla motor. I believe (don't quote me on this) that any GT with a 5s in it says to use a slightly higher octane of fuel, but I'm not sure.

Ive always done the cheapest, and then once every like 4-5 weeks we throw in the high stuff to help kinda clean the engine and mix with the old fuel. My 7A runs great on the cheap stuff though. We get about 400 miles to the full tank.

Like everywhere at the moment we here in New Zealand have seen dramatic petrol price rises gone from 80c per litre to $1.80ish for the good stuff which having a Japenese import mine tends to run best on. upto $90 for a fill up. frown.gif

Don't feel to bad. Around here it's $1.06 a Liter.
Aprox 4 liters to the gallon gives you 1.06x4=$4.24 per gallon.

Like Outsider said, the price here is getting crazy. I just spent $50 yesturday filling my tank and that was with regular 87 octane, most I have ever paid to fill the tank on the car.

on page 103 of the celica's manual (am i the only one who has one of these?) it says, quote,"OCTANE NUMBER

7A-FE engine - Select Research Octane Number 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher.

5S-FE engine - Select Research Octane Number 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher. For improved vehicle performance, the use of premium unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number of 96 (Octane Rating 91) or higher is recommended.
"

hope that answers ur question. i used to run regular in the car, and didn't experience any pinging or knocking. then, i decided to fill up on premium to clean the engine a bit. the ONLY difference i noticed on that tank was a big increase in mileage. so i've been using premium ever since.

2.90 dollars / gallon = 2,349 euro / 3,785 liter

In Belgium we pay: 1,20 euro / liter = 1,50 dollar / liter = 5,6775 dollar / gallon

And you think your gas is expensive??

ok my fellow 6gcer's, i was watching the news (cnn) and i found out some stuff. right now we are paying 75 bucks a barrel for oil. if iran turns against us and cuts us off we will be paying 500 bucks a barrel. and at 75$ we are paying 3.18 a gallon for regular. think about how gas will be if it goes to 500$ a barrel. so thats like 21$ a gallon for regular gas. and they can charge that because we will buy it. i mean who wants to walk to work. with out gas we go nowhere. therefore we will pay no matter what it cost. so think about that when ur spinning tires or street racing, or just cruising around for no apparent reason. but ne way, tty guys later. cya.

They need to remove the damn tariff on ethanol. They're making that crap for cheap in Brazil out of sugar cane, but they won't let them sell it in the US to protect oil companies and US farmers. Bio diesel is growing too, watch out for more diesel cars.

True and this is high energy fuel while conversion of engine from gas to ethanol is like 500$. And it does not damage the engine.

Concerning high prices - I pay 4.90$ per gallon for 95 octane (which is regular in my country - octane I mean, but prices are getting regular-ly higher too wink.gif ). Fortunately for everyday driving I use corporate turbodiesel-powered car (high torque - that is what I like biggrin.gif ).

Apparently theres some giant revolt going on and everyone has stopped getting gas from Exxon/Mobil. The idea is that if people stop buying gas from the largest company, the price will drop, and in turn the other companies will lower their price too... we'll see.

no they arnt, we talked about it in economics, with the price of crude oil right now, to make any profit, selling unrefined oil, not paying any wokers, and using no trucks or anything to deliver the fuel, it would cost about $1.75 per gallon, then add the refining cost, and pay the workers, and gas up the trucks that are moving it around, the problem is our refineries are old and not running at capacity and we are all driving to much

Can't the government do something? If oil profits are at an all time high, then that's price gouging.

oil profits arent at that high, what the gov. needs to do is bail out the oil companies like they did the airlines and update our refineries so that they can work at maximum capacity, if bush were smart he would suggest a bill to do that, then his approval rating would go up.

I guess theres one good thing about living in Iowa, 89 octane with the ethanol is a lot cheaper than the 87 usually about 10 cents, we're at about 2.68 - highest we've been in a long time.

lilsteeg what you said was true when the hurricanes first destroyed all of those off shore oil refineries but now those have all been fixed and there is no need for the gas prices to still be rising and it is true that oil profits are at an all time high right now

no, those werent the major part, the on shore ones are, there are 2 of them in my city and they are out of date.

the profits are at an all time high because we are driving more than we ever have, you can make less per gallon, but if we keep driving there profits are going to go up, its not the ammount per gallon that they are making that is at an all time high

Apparently theres some giant revolt going on and everyone has stopped getting gas from Exxon/Mobil. The idea is that if people stop buying gas from the largest company, the price will drop, and in turn the other companies will lower their price too... we'll see.

ive noticed that exxon's prices ARE a little cheaper around here than everyone elses...but not by much.. kindasad.gif

I look at it this way, it takes about 30 bucks (when gas was around 2.20ish a gallon) to fill up, with the increase it brings it to about 33-34 bucks. The extra 3-4 bucks means i cant get any hungry man dinners for that week. But I heard in Colorado the prices are supposed to hit a peak of 5 bucks a gallon by the end of the summer...

Dude, two years ago it was only 1.25 a gallon. I remember back in '98 when 87 Octane hit a low of 89 cents a gallon. I filled my car up for 10 bucks once. I miss the Clinton administration.

seems i pay too much and burn too much these days...just like to drive the crap outta the CeliPig wink.gif so i fill on 92octane.

prices here have dropped a few cents and the provincial government announced today it will be regulating fuel prices as of June 1st. not sure that's a good thing, have to wait and see. at least there won't be any more wild jumps in prices-- 1.09 one day 1.27 the next and then 1.14 on day 4.

price today is 114.9 cents/l so...

1 gallon [US, liquid] = 3.79 litre * 114.9 = 4.35$CDN = 4.82$US/gal

1 thing i can tell you is that government regulations on prices won't help anything....probably make them worse...

oil price won't jump from 75$ a barrel to 500$ a barrel just cause iran hates us thats the biggest bull**** i've ever heard....a 425$ price jump? thats just retarded..

but i have to agree that its not the companies jacking up prices to benefit their pocket....the world drives more now then they ever have which means we buy more gas....common sense says the more that is bought the more profit that is made...just remember the company's have to put gas in their car too why would they want to rape people for no reason..they would be raping themselves wink.gif

its all just supply and demand...and that yes we do need to update some of our refineries cause we do consume more then we ever have and they are "struggling" to keep up with the demand

clinton didnt do anything to help the economy, except not f it up, the Demon-craps will always claim to have done something when in all reality, it was regans administration that set up the economy for clinton, it takes our gov/economy a while to see the changes that have been signed into law. and dont even say that he ballenced the budget because he didnt. and stop rippin on Bush people, he had no power to do anything about katrina, thats congresses job, he doesnt pass laws, sure he can veto but congress has all the power, and he is a good president, he was doin great until 9/11, i hate michael moore, e has had to deal with a ton of tough s*** unlike clinton who did NOTHING. Baby killers
ok thats the end of my republican ranting
