Well probably some of you are wondering where I've been, so here's an update. Basically, as I announced I was going to a while back, I moved down to Savannah, GA to join a shop called Truboost Performance. For a little while before I moved down (but after my house was under contract and I had left my job and so on), the owner of this shop, "Derek", had been acting unreliable and hard to get a hold of. Since everything was in motion already I decided to go for it anyway, but I had a backup job in place.

So, I moved down here, and for the entire time that I've been here I haven't been able to get a hold of Derek. For more than a week. I did some more searching around and talking with people and heard lots of bad things which I need not get into detail about. Bottom line is, this guy is bad news and I'm not getting involved with him. Moving on...

The backup job I had in place unfortunetely didn't pan out either, but there's plenty of other work around here. After passing my name out here and there and turning down several offers, it looks like I'm going to be hooking up with a successful company called Southern Car Customs. I'll keep everyone updated as things move forward.

Oh yeah, and I have not gotten internet access at my house yet, so I'm only online when I can go find a hotspot, which is why I haven't been on much. Once things get settled down then hopefully I can get on more. Well, that's about it!

Oh yeah, and I know my PM box is full, just hit me up by email: drtweak@phoenixtuning.com

that really sucks man. its horrible to move and then have someone bail out on you.

why are you looking to get hired somwhere in the 1st place? wont you be making a lot more money doing things on your own ? you seemd to have a steady gig going on at your house with doing swaps and stuff. you would make out better that way, then busting your ass every day for a mechanics paycheck.

Yea dude, i say you find a reliable partner and open up your own shop. Maybe theres a honda specialist out there with you, and you guys could open up a Toyota/Honda specialist shop (or something similar to this concept but with body work).... I think this is a sign you should move further south (towards texas) =). No but good luck with everything, keep us updated.

i agree - TX -- we need reliable people like you here --

good luck job hunting -- let us know if you need any help - i'm sure every1 here will be glad to help you if u need it -

you know what just occured to me -- if each member on here would chip in a little - like anywhere from $20 to $100 or more - we all can open up a shop under the trusted name of some of the well known members on here -- that way everyone benefits --

Just Imagine a shop devoted to 6GC's (and other models - honda and so on) something like $40 a month isn't that bad -- since this community is very civilized i think its do-able

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. Things are going pretty smooth all things considered. I'm working out of the house right now, have plenty of work for the next few months, but that won't be needed... I've gotten a pretty sweet offer from a company in Savannah called Southern Car Customs, will most likely be joining them in the next two weeks. So I'll keep you all in touch on that. In the meantime I'm still doing wiring harnesses and whatever else, so feel free to send them my way.

As for going out on my own, or continuing to work at home, there are pros and cons to each of them, but with the route I'm taking now I think it'll be less stress overall and give me more experience with other cars. So other reasons too but it's long and boring wink.gif

Oh and I finally got internet installed at my house so I should be back online on a daily basis now. smile.gif

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I'll 4th that. Florida already has Hux racing for 3s-gte swaps, Cali has many but in tx. all we have is ChrisK (who won't do swapps - just builds 5s-3s hybrids at rediculous prices) and ATS racing for upgrade CT-26's.
If you ever do move here I'll be the first car in your garage for a swap. Course I will be annoying as hell with all the watching and daily pop ins for updates - LOL.

sorry to hear 'bout all the ****e you are going through. why is it bad things happen to good people? anyway, karma is going to kick "Derek's" ass all over hell and back for doing that to you.

i have a feeling you will land on both feet though, just a hunch.

You should come to the maritimes, our only local shop sucks and a monkey could run the business better than them. Come on over and put them out, there are lots of car enthusiats down here.

oh and while you're around, what's the update on that v6 swap????
