alright... well.. its not really an exciting story... proabbly happened when i was about 15. My parents used to hike alot and i decided i wanted to test the bear spray. Being the smart young lad i was i deicded it would be a good idea to bring my bike to the designated test area so that i could quickly bike away before the spray reached me... haha.. yea. Didnt happen that way. Bear spray went off and instantly my contacts were burning... then i tried riding my bike back... through the forest. Worst experience ever!

And while were on teh taser topic... i once built a taser... and got suspended from high school with it tongue.gif Had some fun tazering the rugbee team though.

I semi did it to myself once... I was trying to put the pepperspray into a little holder thing, but it was so tight that it sprayed all over my hands, and I got a little bit in my face, but not enough to really feel the damage of it... laugh.gif

i still say it's hardcore that they sprayed you in the face man. my friends that have been through trainings have gotten it rubbed under their eyes, or walked into a cloud of it. never directly sprayed. sheeeesh.

When I was in the Marine Corps we had to stand there for like 5 speconds while they sprayed us in the face with the stongest pepper spray. After we got sprayed we had to attack a target. That **** sucks. I would not want to have anyone get peppersprayed. Plus it takes days to go away. Every shower is burns the face and the rest of the body as it washes off.

Crazy thing, there were a couple guys that were immune to it.

Worse part was they made us rinse it off in a bucket of water not a hose.. WTF is up with that??? 20 people already put their face in a bucket and then I have to?? What does that teach me?? lol

Sorry if this sounds like career bashing or whatever and if so, I'll edit, but that just seems like the height of stupidity in training to me. Either you can function with pain or you can't. In my experience, it's not something you develop. To me, this kind of crap just sounds like somebody who gets off on putting the people down the command chain from them through hell so they can laugh about it. WTF is that suppossed to teach you??

Or maybe I just have an anti authority complex. rolleyes.gif

The pepper spray is training so you will know how it feels when you get hit. It won't be as much a shock the next time cause the body knows what it felt like and hopefully you can react better.

The gas chamber is so you know if you have your gas mask on correctlyand you know how to clear it of anything. This will save your life. If its not adjusted correctly you'll inhale bad stuff and die.

Both training have their purposes, yes they suck at the time, but next time you'll react better which is the point of all training.

^^yeah I agree with that. I dont think we ever got sent to the chamber as a punishment or anything like that. I know that when we went in there without a mask they( higherups) thought we were showing off so they made us go in and do PT(physical trining for those who dont know). Now that crap sucks. But the pepperspray was hell. I got sprayed once in 03 before I went over seas then once in 04 before I went back. I never got used to it but I have to admit that it wasnt as bad the second time. Still hurt though.
