hey everyone. im starting to look at performance for my celi. i just swapped a 3rd gen 3sgte and AWD into my celica. now im looking to do some performance mods to it.

i was lookin at an Apexi Power FC. is this a good unit? what are some ups ands downs about it? does it need to be programmed? so on.

also, i have a CT20b turbo on it as of now. should i upgrade? keep it? if i do an upgrade, whats the turbo that i should go for (thats not rediculously priced?)

also what size injectors should i go for? blah blah blah. smile.gif

if anyone has any other good performance upgrades to do to it, id love to find out what route i should go for in those mods.

thanks: mike laugh.gif

i would recomend that you do NOT buy anything or do anything, untill youve had some time to learn about this motor. go to mr2oc.com , become a member, and just start reading everything that people are doing on there. it will give you an idea on what upgrade path you should take.

if i were you, my next mod would be a boost controller.

third on the boost controller, i think putting a 3rd gen 3sgte and awd setup into a 6th gen is "performance" enough haha!

have fun with the car, do little things, but i wouldnt upgrade the turbo just yet.

id also like to hear more about the apexi power fc, my friend has it in his rx-7 and it looks real fun tongue.gif

a boost controller was definatley one of the next things i was looking into. i wanted to find out about the Power FC before i got one, just to make sure of some things.

what are some "small things" that i could do for horse power gains?

oh just one question, kinda off topic but, ne ways. my turbo sputters when i get higher in the boost range. what could be causing that?

why do you want a powerFC? what makes you want that? there is no need for anything like that at the stage that you are at.

you said your turbo sputters? how much boost are you runing right now? do you have a BOV?

If you are using cheap silicon autozone style vaccum lines for your bov, then there is your problem, under heat they become soft and colapse causing your bov to sound like "pffrtrtrfrtttr" instead of "whoooshhh" or "pshhhhhhhsss" smile.gif

That makes me wonder...
did gen3 3sgte come stock with bpv or bov ? to my understanding there is no need for for recirc on MAP system...

The gen3 3s-gte comes with a BPV - its the same part used on the earlier MR2s.

Is there any advantage in using bpv over bov on st205 motor ? other than silent operation that is...

i used to have those silicone hoses but i took them off for that main reason. they kept giving me problems. it still does the same thing though. the BOV sounds good, something just sputters when its boosting up.

check ignition, spark plugs & wires, then cap & rotor. it may just not be able to combust all that fuel needed at 12psi
