It could be so many things. Mine does/did that off and on for a long time. My last car did it too. It hasn't done it in a while, but I'm kind of just waiting on it. I replaced my intire ignition system, but I fear it could just be a banade on the real problem. I think it's a vac issue. I hate vac lines.

I'm having the same problem as you. Idle rpm jumps between 750-1000.
I have checked all the vacum lines, cap n rotor, I've also flushed the radiator to make sure there's no air trapped in the system. I think the problem is the IAC valve. Going to give it a good wash with some carburator cleaner and see if that helps. |

How much do the IAC Vayles run 4?
Sparks and Rotor/Cap should be ok. I changed them not to long ago. Yet I'll check them just 2 be safe. I think its ether the IAC or the vaccum. Car has 167k on it so its bound to be many things. This post has been edited by o0black0o: Jul 17, 2006 - 9:17 AM |

I've fixed the problem on my car, it was the IAC valve. I didn't have to replace it, I just ajusted it so it would close properly. To do this I removed the two screws on the back of the IAC valve and moved the position of the metal plate.
Now the car idles perfectly. The Rpm on coldstarts has also gone down from 2000rpm to 1300rpm. P.S I have the 3SGE engine, so I don't know if it's the the same on your car. This post has been edited by MacBain: Jul 17, 2006 - 11:18 AM |

I have a 7afe. I know how to clean it. I just have to get the carbon cleaner and time to do it.
Mine doesn't rev big just like 100rpms back and fowarth. I can hear it in the exaust also. Thats how I mainly noticed it at first. This post has been edited by o0black0o: Jul 17, 2006 - 6:34 PM |

In my case, cleaning it wasn't enough. I had to adjust it.
You can check if the valve opens and shuts properly if you connect it to a 12v source (car battery). Check out the BGB on how to test it. |
