So after I graduated from high School I tried going to community college. I took 2 classes and was working 60 hours a week. I had a tough time so I dropped school mid quarter and decided to just work. After 2.5 years I decided to try it again since I need some schooling for what I want to do. (event planning) so spring quarter I was stoked and did really well. Ended up with a high A in my class. My company said they would pay for my summer course since it pertained to what I do for them right now. Well i got all confused since it was online class and things were moving really fast and not organized on the site. So now its 4 weeks into the class and I have a D. I emailed the teacher and asked if its possible at this point to get a B or better because this week I finally felt like I had gotten back into gear and was going to be able to do this but looking at my grade totally has me frustrated. I have to repay my company 500 dollars if I get anything below a B. so I dont think im cut out for this school thing. I know school isnt supposed to be easy but im one of those people that once I get down about something I dont wanna try anymore. So now im upset that I screwed myself over in class and that I have to pay my company 500 dollars now all because I got confused the first 3 weeks of class. I emailed the teacher 2 weeks into it and she said Id be fine but now I think she just emailed me that because shes lame and had nothing better to say.

---sorry for the vent---

its not the end of the world but it just feels like i wont ever be anything more than an administrative assistant.

i liked online classes because then I dont have to deal with the intimidation of going to class but i get intimidated online posting on a discussion board cuz im afraid ill say something stupid...suprising huh?! since im on here all the time and i post anything!

hahah, i used to be intimidated to post incase i said something stupid, cuase then it would be saved forever that i said something stupid haha. ok well not saved forever, but they would have proof of my stupidness for awhile haha jk. laugh.gif haha don't worry about posting though, im sure nobody is going to judge you and they are just online anyways, so you don't have to deal with them in person. Just post if you have something to say, and if it will help you in the class, then go for it smile.gif

And the teacher said it wasn't possible for you to get a B in the class? frown.gif

I actually prefer online classes to regular classes. I seem to always do better. I never like going to class. :\

Well for me I think going to class would be better

1 - I'd make new friends
2 - have hands on

I plan to go to a local college for the first 2 years, then check my options afterwards maybe online, I donno.

But for me, I haven't been in school in 5 years so I have alot of adjusting to do.

i prefer real classes rather than online. im really lazy and online classes enable me to just slack off and do the bare minimum to pass. plus theres soo much distraction around the computer. with real classes you take the time to get ready, drive over there, and sit in class. since your there, you might as well listen and take advantage of the experience.

oh and i feel ya on summer classes. my school is year round so for the next 8 months i spend every mon-fri either at school or in the hospital. absolutely NO break for me! =(

if i skip the summer i get even lazier than i normally am, and thats pretty lazy, but two more classes than woohoo i'm done

never tried an online class. but i bet it'd be easier with all the sources to compare your notes with in one place, with too many people in one class you sometimes can't take advantage of time to actually learn if you need help too

just don't give up you might have to pay your company back now, or not if you try hard enough, but what you get from your degree will be alot more money from them later and a since of accomplishment smile.gif

Update - I ended up with a 95% A. I half assed my final and the teacher even commented that she didnt understand why i didnt fully complete it since i was so concerned with my grade but thats because the day before it was due I did the numbers and gave myself the lowest I thought I would do and still would have ended up with a B. So why try so hard on something when school for event planning is a waste of time because its more of a "learn while on the job" profession.

Anyways so I got an A and im celebrating tonight! yay!
