looks good so far big guy. I would suggest you remove the windshield and then swap this

IPB Image

it might be easier to reinstall the steering column and the heater core, blower, and the AC amplifier. Also from what I understand the wiper arms and control bar will have to be swapped too. There was a post by someone a while back with the guy who went L to R or R to L in a GT-Four with a bunch of pics, you saw that post right ?

Top sheet metals is not necessary to change, it is the same shape on RHD or LHD. You will just need to drill out the mountings for the heater core and etc from your LHD top, and weld the RHD mounting in the R side. You can just cuz the opening for the Blower motor in the top metals on the Left side, and shut the Right side with the piece of metal. If you going to remove the windshield and replace the top metal - you will have to separate 4 pieces of metal sheet, and placing everything back is WAY WAY too difficult - belive me - we just finished conversion of the GT4 and its damn stupidly hard to change the top part.

As for the brake lines - only 2 lines that are running to ABS will need to be made from new. Clutch line will have to be longer too. There are still 100 of small bits and tricks that will need to be figured out - belive me... you are at the lets say 15% of the progress so far... Keep up the good work Dan, and if somthing - ask.

yup i've already taken care of that top part of mounts, ie i'll be leaving the piece in and just swapping them over, the brake lines for me have to be all new i don't have abs to start so i have to ditch that and run new lines which is really easy shouldn't take more then 30 minutes when i get to that point in time, clutch line again not really a big deal, i'm still really far away from both those points,

likewise with the wiper arms i've already removed them for installing the RHD ones, redrill 3 holes and thats pretty much set,

so i should have most larger issues addressed and covered smile.gif

thanks

thanks

Biggest Issue will be Steering gear for you. IF the front cut came along with the LOWER SUBFRAME - take it and use it on your car, cuz im not 100% but it seems like superstrut and mac suspensions are using the same lower subframe. Using the lower subframe from the GT4 and steering gear from GT4 you wount need to modifie your original subframe to fit the steering gear from GT4. If you gonna go with the GT4 steering gear - use it along with the steering arms.

as for another issues - Wiring will be a bit of problematic. You will need to extend about 150 wires. you need to re-route your rear wiring going to the rear lights. And etc etc etc... Engine wiring will need to be extended to go original route. (ofcorse if you want everything be in the stock places...)

There will be more issues - belive me biggrin.gif

and Sell me that damn steering wheel if you aint gonna use it biggrin.gif

you want that racing wheel? i'll send you the whole column if you want it i'm going to use the one from my car anyways smile.gif

but i'll check to see how the sub frame mounts up this weekend and take some pictures since i have it..

yea and the wiring thing for the car i'm not sure cause if i want A/C i need to use the RHD stuff but i'm not going to the the RHD wiring harness..or at least i dont' plan to i plan on using the LHD one flipped around and changed up but thats a problem for when i get it all together smile.gif

Wont you just have to extend it? That should be all you have to do i believe....

nope
there are significant differences between a GT4 dash harness(es) and the USDM versions

the AC in a GT4 is all electrical, USDM its not, gauge clusters are different and the way the wires run, and a few other things might be
i really havn't spent time working on the harnesses yet as i'm not to that point in the conversion but i will post up pictures and details later on
(romas might be able to clarify on this more)

Not every GT4 has electrical AC tho. EU and UK spec (at least up to 96) have the same layout and A/C button as every other 6GC.

My JDM GT4 Wreck also had the electrical AC since I didn't want it it saved me alot of work.

thanks for the clarification kadett smile.gif

so i guess its just 96+ thing on non usdm spec cars?
i just know the actual units are different (the in/outlet) are different angles, plugs are all electrical and a few other bits

Wont you just have to extend it? That should be all you have to do i believe....

You wount be using GT4 hardness thats for sure, cuz this would give you huge headake in rewiring it and etc. You will need to flip over your LHD hardness, but remeber few things - RHD heater core and LHD heater core are different, and you will be installing RHD heater. RHD heater uses 3 motors to control position of the wind, power of the blower, and heat / cold. Your LHD heater has only 2 motorised options (position and Blower) the third (hot / cold air) is controled manualy by the string. You will have to rework the center piece of the heater to control it manualy ( i did vise versa everything... for my it was easyer). Another thing (the MAIN ONE), then you flip the hardness (basicly 2 hardness, one witch goes on the firewall, second under the dash) remeber that the wiring that COMES INTO the car on both sides will need to be extended (left one to right side, right one to left side), you will need to extend every single wire, then run the wiring on the top of the firewall. On the left side there is another wiring that goes to rear of the car (rear lights, fuel pump and etc etc.) this wiring will need to be extended too to run on the right side. Engine wiring (if you gonna place the USDM engine back ofcorse...) will need to be extended too, cuz it ment to be on the right side, and now it will have to run on the left side. You will have to use the fuse box from GT4 (witch goes under the dash) ans there is another box near the fuse box (the grey one) you will have to use it too. Cuz they have different mounting then the LHD fuse box and wire box. There are 2 little boxes on both sides of the car (near the firewall), plugs of the wiring goes to them - you will have to use RHD boxes to plug the plugs in corect places after switching the wiring. Use every single piece witch is on the RHD wiring (all the mountnings and etc) cuz you HAVE TO MAKE THE wiring right if you dont want to have FIRE in your car after rewiring it...

For now thats all - there will be few more issues that i will write about.
