...no longer works. Its not fuzzy or distorted; it just doesnt sound like its connected. I took off the right rear interior panel, and zipped out the screws. everything appears to be hooked up correctly, except that the smaller of the 2 connections (the little metal bracket fitted on your speakers for the speaker wire) appears like the moron at best buy bent it back and forth a few times. Its still connected...but you can tell that a few more bends in either direction will break it off. Anyone know if this is the issue? or is it a wiring issue? I suppose I should take off the left speaker and hook it up, but interior panels in the 6th gen are a PITA. I don't think it is a fuse b/c i was under the impression that the fuse for the speakers effected all of the speakers. Any opinions or suggestions are welcome

I assume you're looking at something like this?

IPB Image

If it's the wire side, then make sure the "jaws" are closed enough to contact. It's super easy to crimp a new one on from your hardware/electrical/store. Look for a 14-16 awg quick disconnect female.

If it's the speaker side, you're a little more screwed.

ok as far as I know there is no such thing as speaker fuses.

its either going to be:-
bad connection at head unit end
bad connection at speaker end
knackered head unit that won't send to that side speaker
balance/fader on headunit needs adjusting or
broken wire between head unit and speaker.

Hi, i'm thinking of replacing my rear speakers, what size are they? Also what will be the mounting depth?
Anychance you can post or send me a photo of how to take off the rear panels to access the speakers?

6.5", not sure on the depth, mine just screws right into the bracket. No digtal camera, but I can tell you how I take mine off..
Take off plastic step(where the door meets the floor when you close it) it just pops right off. Then slide your front seats ALL the way forward. In the middle of EACH rear seat, lift up to pop out the mechanism that holds the front of the seat in place, and just muscle it out of the way to get to the screw holding down the interior piece. Now put down the top part of the rear seat, and again there is another screw about half way up iirc. With those screws removed, you should be able to have just enough room to remove the old speaker(whichis probably soldered to the wire, so clip it and attach an aftermarket speaker wire adapter, usually cost ~$6 USD a pair. You could also solder the wire to the connection on the speaker, but that takes work wink.gif Also, if your having trouble fitting a screw driver in there, the plastic screen DOES come out, just push it from the back once you get the interior side panel loose, that should help out a bit. After you have the new speaker adapter connected, go ahead and connect it to the speaker and turn on your car to test for sound before screwing it back in. Once you screw it back in, just put the panel back on, and replace the screws you took out, snap the seat back in and you should be set.

Atleast thats how it works on my 1994 ST, hope this helped and GL to ya. also, if anyone could post how to remove the ENTIRE back seat, thatd be sweet smile.gif
