well from my understanding is that power assist steering works on a tight ratio, where that when you turn the steering wheel it will only turn till it locks, for example if you go sit in your celica, turn your car on and turn the steering wheel it will make 2 or 3 rotations before it stops but with power assist it will only make like 1/2 turn maybe alil more, it gives you i guess an ultimate feel for the road u can feel the slightess little bumps, and u have great control over the car. ford tried this in the 70's but i think it was alittle too sensitive making the car able to over steer like nothing but i think then it was all mechanical, but im sure now its been refined and intergrated with computers and eletrical systems makeing something great too have. OR why the hell would they PUt it on EVOS, STI's and so on!!!!!!! lol. just my thought.

are you trying to say with power assistant steering.. you only need to turn the steering wheel 1/2 turn before it locks? So if i want to do a U turn i only need to turn it half way? am i geting the logic correct? Wont this be dangerious if i am driving high speeds and a slightest turn of the wheel will leave me crashing into the guard rail?

yes its like that, but know thats what i mean ford tried this earlier and it did do something like that at high speeds but i think now its perfected to where its computerized so its adjusting and changing to what speeds you are driving. and yes the wheel gets too its locked position after little farther then a half turn. but you would have to adjust to it too,
