if you get more than 10 and the price drops lower i would consider it. the highest i can go is $120 shipped for the set to do 2 lights.

didn't see it mentioned yet, but (from what i understand) it's the hi beams that you want to avoid hids with. because hids don't like it when you flash them.

I can get those from the supplier, not from him but the manufacturer. if you see they cost 140 on ebay mostlike the cost per unit is somewhere around 75-80 dollars, you can always go to the cheapest ( specailly on ebay ) but I don't do that. I sell all kind of stuff from sneakers, ipods , etc. I know where they get all that stuff on ebay. this kit I'm planning to get goes for 200 dollars on ebay, I'm not making any profit from this, but after this group buy is over I'll start selling this kit on ebay but for at least 175, if everyone agrees that would be better to order those you show I can get them for all of you and I'm sure won't be more than 100 shipped but to me it's not worthy; but it's up to all of you.
I was in the susp. tech sway bar GB and I was glad that I got that for that price, then there was a GB for JDM tails, I wasn't because of money issues so, I though that I doesn't take me too much effort to do this and I wanted to cooperated with the site. -------------------- ![]() |

I could choose diferent manufactures, we all agree that this are not the best HIDs on the market and we all know how much those cost, but these are the best for the money' plus the 1 year warranty really works not since we are getting these from the manufacturer and not from a reseller so we know where to send this if something goes wrong.
I did check the defect rate of this manufacturer and it was 0.04 % which I think is acceptable. -------------------- ![]() |

one of my headlights has a rock chip (hole) in it. would that cause the HID to burn out faster, or cause any other problem since it is not sealed and can get wet?

i dont know which is best to get...I want it to be noticeably HID, but emit a lot of light too. its important because i drive from work all the time at night in the country too.
Also, will there be glare issues with USDM headlights? I want a nicely cut beam... -------------------- |

So 4500K is a very usable HID? I want the brightest light I can possibly get, but I know that the higher the Kelvin rating, the dimmer the bulb will actually be. So is 4500K brighter than standard halogens? Because I have a 9005 bulb in my 9006 low beam and that helped a lot but not as much as I would like.

Wow, talk about bringing a thread back from the dead ![]() HIDs are brighter than halogens by nature. It's sort of like comparing the difference of a flashlight to a candle - it's the source itself that makes it bright. The temperature color doesn't actually make the light dimmer per se, it's more a matter of how far that particular light wave in the spectrum is able to travel. Yellow enhanced depth perception, blue can fatigue the eyes. A lot of people chose blue as an aesthetic choice though, but personally I wouldn't recommend it for long drives like road trips or anything. 4500k would be a very good quality white light that leans towards a warmer white which is best for depth perception - as opposed to 5000k which is also very white but is a cooler white that leans comparatively toward a bluish cast. See my sig for the link to the HID group buy; page 1 has a lot of good info. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

Like I said, I want the brightest possible light I can get, something very usable. I had blue headlights when I had my truck and I might as well have been using a flashlight. They SUCKED. So I don't ever want blue headlights again. Practicality before cosmetics. Besides, blue headlights wouldn't look good on my car anyway. The reason I want a bright light is because I live WAYYY out in the country. I totalled one Celica out, I've wrecked this one, and the other day, I just about wrecked it again, all on deer. So I need a bright light for night driving so I can see the deer when they are a little further away lol. Like I said, I modified my 9005 bulbs to fit my 9006 low beams, and that helped a lot, but it's still not enough. So now I'm seriously considering spending the money for HID's, since I hear so much about them. But only if they'll actually help me out. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I can guarantee that the HIDs will be brighter than your halogens, even though you're running 9005s in your low beams. As to whether they're bright enough, that's gonna be for you to determine of course. When I first moved to Oregon, I moved to the country. I went from living in NYC with approximately 11 million other people to living in a small town that had a population of 2400 in the "city" limits. I did not live in "city" limits - so I know what you're saying when you say you live way out in the country and need brighter headlights. My girlfriend is from the same very small town outside of Portland, and we go out there regularly to see her parents, who also live outside of city limits (and thus beyond any reach of actual street lights on some of the roads). My HIDs kick ass for the drive. Windy country roads lined by woods on each side, except the north side of the highway where there's a big ass river on the other side of those woods, about 100 yards through.
Personally, I say try them out. I really don't think you'll be disappointed. Worst case scenario is that you feel like you've not gotten your money's worth; I don't think I can accept returns but let me confirm that. If I can't for some reason, I'm willing to bet you can resell them on here with no problem at all. Actually, scrap that. Return them to me and I'll give you your money back. I'll take the chance with them and if I can't get my money back on them, I'll keep them. For your purposes I would recommend 4300k for the yellowish as opposed to bluish tint, to maximize your depth perception. What you experienced with the blue lights is the EXACT SAME THING I experienced when I had blue lights on my '87 Pathfinder when I lived out in BFE. I HATED the blue. It looked cool but I couldn't see worth a sh1t, and they were even worse in the rain which here in the PNW, is a BIG problem. If you really don't want yellow, I'd go 5000k for the cooler white. I've got 5000k on my car now and the trips out to BFE are just fine, even in the rain. I wouldn't have minded having the 4300k too though and if I were to do it again, I might go with that. -------------------- ![]() |

Kelvin is color.
Lumens is brightness. You want 4500-6000k. And maybe an airhorn to scare deer. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Nov 25, 2008 - 1:32 PM -------------------- |

Well, alright then! As soon as I get some money, I'll put myself on the list for the next GB. I still live out in BFE and probably will for a while, and I'm getting sick of slamming on my brakes for deer, so I'm trying to "deer-proof" my car, starting with visibility. I figure the first step is seeing the deer. After this, I'm going with all new brakes, but that's later.
I'm not a huge fan of super blue headlights, so I'll just stick with yellow. As far as the airhorn goes, I'll take anything! Lol. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I'm not concerned about color as long as it isn't super blue. I want literally the most light output I can get. Does anyone have any pictures of the actual light output of their HID's or would I just have to see them in person? -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. there must b a reason 4300K is OEM rite? so i would stick with 4300K
it rly isn't that yellow... 3000K is yellow (generally used for foglights) 8000K is too high. the further away you move from around 4300-5000k the worse visibility will get. 4500K or so is around what sunlight is @ noon. 8000K might be bright, but it won't project a lot of light to the ground... and as griff mentioned, it will suck in wet weather because the beam gets lost in the rain pic in my avatar is 4300K... but then i got HID projectors... Ah, ok. I'll just stick with 4300K then. I honestly don't understand a lot about lights as I'm sure you can easily tell by now. Thanks for all the help! You guys are awesome. I'm working on saving up some money so I can get some HID's. Hopefully I won't be too late for any of the GB's
