I am getting a header I won off ebay, the torque plate is on route and I also have found the ecu for it so it is a complete motor, now.

I'll take a pic of the engine after I install the new cam seals and timing belt.

Not that there was anything wrong with the old ones, I swaped the intake cam cause it was originally a manual equipped engine.

Gen3 3SGE A/T (170ps):
In: 240deg, 8.7mm lift (timing 7/53)
Ex: 240deg, 8.2mm lift (timing 53/7)

Gen3 3SGE M/T (180ps):
In: 252deg, 9.8mm lift (timing 7/65)
Ex: 240deg, 8.2mm lift (timing 53/7)

Gen3 3SGTE (245ps):
In: 240deg, 8.7mm lift (timing 7/53)
Ex: 236deg, 8.2mm lift (timing 50/6)

I have a 3G 3SGTE head and wanted the longer duration, higher lift cam from the N/A motor hence the swap and the reason for me listing it as a AUTO engine and not a manual - I did not swap the exhaust cam.
The engine was missing the header, flywheel and ecu when I purchased it, its only by chance that I was able to find the missing parts.

A good friend is interested in it at this point and wants me to put it in his wifes 6G Celica GT A/T, so she gets precidence for now until she changes her mind. My neighbour is also interested in it for his 6G Celica GTS A/T as well. Local's take precidance as its less headache for me to have to deal with shipping it.

Got the MAP sensor and ignitor needed to complete the swap and make the engine run correctly with the ecu, as complete as your going to find unless you buy a clip.

I got the cam seals in and the timing belt on, engine is now fully assembled, the flexplate you see on the floor behind the motor is the one for this engine, the heat shield you see to the right of it is not for this engine and is the only thing missing from the motor.

Yes,
- remove the torque plate and bolt on a flywheel
- use a manual ecu

Well if your car originally comes equipped with the 7A-FE than that tranny will not bolt up to this motor nor will this motor bolt into your engine bay without welding in s-series motor and tranny mount brackets.
JDM gear ratios are over rated, I had them - didnt like them.

Exactly my point. So it would help alot if you did had the tranny. Unless the good DrTweak has a 3SGTE (MR2) or 5SFE tranny laying around. I guess there isn't much I can do. Good luck with the sale though. Bump.

I don't have one one hand, but GT trannys aren't too hard to find. Also, a manual ECU technically isn't needed, the auto will work fine, though it might have a lower rev limit.

I'd buy this whole setup if I had the money to put into my Celica. In fact... what would shipping be to Savannah, GA?

So I would need the 5S-FE Tranny to complete the swap?

Any 5-speed tranny that came attached to an s-series motor ie. 5sfe, 3sfe, 3sge even a 3sgte can be converter to FWD. Also any manual tranny that came from the MR2 or Camry.

Motors no longer for sale - temporaily on hold until I decide what Im going to do about my car. The motor in my car just took a dump and I need to decide what Im going to do about it. So I may end up using this one to replace it. So until my car is sorted out all engines I have or had for sale are no longer available until further notice.

I dont want to hijack this tread but im auto and im canadian. I wanted to swap a 3sgte and do a manual conversion but now im not sure at all because of all the headaches for the tranny swap....

do you guys think that engine would be a good investment (performance/money wise) and also what other parts would I need to install this into my car (im already auto btw)

this is if you finally decide to sell the engine wink.gif

Turned out my motor just sprung a leak from a busted oil feed line...easy repair, got it back on the road after a days work.

Engines back up for sale, send me a PM or reply here with any questions

I got a shipping company that will ship anywhere in north america, US residents depending on where you live expect to pay $350-$500, Canadian residents significantly less.

Ok I've recieved several PM's asking what would be needed to complete the conversion if someone purchased this motor....

The short answer - NOTHING, as far as parts are concerned I have everything that you would need to start the motor. No need to source any missing parts, most peripherials you use from your exisiting engine, you dont need to upgrade your fuel or exhaust for this motor to work in your car.

Now as far as labour is concerned all depends on your mechanical and electrical capabilites. Physically the motor bolts right into frame rails so long as the engine prior to the swap is of s-series designation - if you have to ask what designation your engine is you obviously need alot more homewrok or are knowwhere capable of doing this on your own.

The two single most difficult aspects of this swap would be having your existing collector modified to work with the header and splicing and extending the wiring harness. Both of those can be easily sourced out - any compatant exhaust shop can modify your existing collector to mate to the header and Dr.Tweak can modify the harness so that it'll plug and play into your application.

This swap will cost a 1/4 to 1/3 of what going FI would cost you in the end, trust me I know.

Wow, people seem to get so confused about the 3SGE and its really not that complicated - its a 3SGTE without the turbo. Its a great motor with a ton of potential, and for that price its a steal. Paid $1000 for my first 3SGE motor.

Same crank as the 3SGTE, so it has the same trans options. S54 using the flywheel/clutch combo from the 1st gen (86-89) 3SGE Celica or the after-market combo that a lot of guys on this site use. E Series trans using the 3SGTE clutch and flywheel and extra headaches with the rear engine mount. Or auto using whatever auto trans the GT was available with.

BTW - I've got a spare 3rd gen 3SGE manual ECU.

wow.

I'll try my best with the translation.

" No, It wasn't on this site, when I was dealing with him, I saw some posts on this site making me believe that he was a good seller, but the transaction began on eBay, but it was made thru emails.

At that time I didn't realize a lot of stuff that I can see now, he had up for auction and spoiler kit, I bid on it but I lost, I believe it was him with another account who was bidding on the item, because I try to contact the winner and he never answered me.

Right after that this seller contacted me directly via Email and offered me a spoiler kit, such kit is almost impossible to get here in Spain because the ST165 was never sold here, so the offer was very tempting.

He sent me pictures of the kit and even reply promptly the same day via Email and telephone, I wanted to arrange the shipping but he insisted that he will do it and I paid US$1000.00 for the spoiler kit and sent the money via Wire Transfer, and right after this he never reply again, only once 2 months later he answered the phone and when he heard me he was in shock and told me that he sent it, I said; well where is the tracking number , he said give me 5 minutes and I'll send it to you via email or I could call him back again, after this I've never heard fro him, no telephone, no emails, nothing.

I really appreciate your support, he took a lot of money from me and I'm really sad. "
