Hi all. Im a newbie and sorry of this has been covered. Ive got a 94 st that Id like to put a 5 speed in. I have access to a 93 with a 5 speed and wonder if the pedals, shifter, flywheel, ect would work? If theres a link I missed fill me in! Thanks! Justin

Also would it matter if the 5th gen was a gt or not?

Not sure if everything will bolt dirrectly up as far as peddles and cables. Flywheel won't need to be switched, and it will mount up. I'm pretty sure of that. I've never done it, but I know there are a lot of interchangables from 5th & 6th gens. Oh, and btw, if it's from anything but another ST, it will not work without a lot of custom fabrication.

Thanks. So if the tranny is a st on the 5th gen it will work but the rest is just a maybe? If I was to convert everything (engine, ect) to a gt on my 6th from a gt 5th would it work?

If you really want to swap a 5sfe for your 7afe, that's alright. I think the mounts are a little screwy, you'll have to do something weird there. I can't remember which it was. But if you're willing to swap it out, you shouldn't have any problem finding what else needs done. You've got to know what you're doing to have confidence enough to swap. It would help the issues with pedals and shifter assimbly. Only way to figure out if it will work is to try it.

Not really looking to swap the motor but its as easy to do both as it is to do just the tranny. All I want is a 5 speed! Engine swaping isnt new to me but these forums are the best way to get quick answers IMO. THanks for helping me out

The tranny will swap over... assuming you have 2 of the same trim celica (ST and ST)... but nothing else from the 5th gen will simply 'bolt on' to the 6th gen.
