i want to recalibrate because i took out my speedometer needles in order to put the indiglo guages in...besides...new tires...rims...soon, damp kits, struts...all will change the speed ratio, not big change, but would be nice to be running pricisely at the correct MPH, i know they make some for the toyota tundra and tacomas...F-150...and so on, but nothing for celi...i was thinking about going to a shop and have them run my car at a constance speed while i try to put the needle at that mark...it's really going all out...but just my thought if i can't find an easier way to resolve this.

Something like that would be nice, but you do realize that most speedos dont read correct anyway. toyota pass insection as long as they dont read slower than the acctual speed. honda is 10% differnce.

get a gps radar detector that shows you how fast you are going, jack up the front two wheels, set your cruise control then take off the needle and match it to the gps radar detector

Resetting the ECU won't do anything as far as the speedometer goes, because the speedometer is driven off of a motor which gets a signal from the speed sensor in the transmission. In fact, on the 4A-GE at least, the car will run without the speed sensor even being connected to the ECU.

your going to throw your speedo off by maybe 1-3mph by going with bigger wheels/ties. the real problem is that you are not supposed to remove your needles when doing a glow gauge install. you slide the overlays with the needles still on the cluster. if you take them off, youll never get them back to the right location. i recommend finding a few gauge cluster that has the same milage as your old one and swaping it out.

Heres a solution for yas, my brothers mustang had a bent rear end axel so we put a V6 rear i and he got picked upt for doing 81mph when his needle said 70. Long story short we went out and I told him to drive 50mph and i followed him and then we pulled off just down the road and i told him he was doing 60mph so my recommendation is to find a friend and try several speeds to see how much your needle is off since you removed it before if nothing else works.

all of you miss one thing which is that not only is your speedometer off but also your odometer.. it will show fewer miles travelled might not be a bad thing but is it legal??

in any case I use stock size rim/tires and my speedometer is deadly accurate.. I checked it with a GPS.
