pro: no one can see inside
no sun damage (fading)
looks awsome

con: the cops will definatly getcha (tickets!)
can't get it inspected

cost: $30-$150+ (do it yourself or getting it done professionally)
-everyone recomends to not do it yourself though

*watch the rear window defroster too just incase (depending on how good the tint is)

hope this helps at all

I got mine done for $200, I got 35% and I havent had any trouble with cops. They guy at the shop where I went said that if they ever had to take the tint off the back window there was a chance that it would mess up the rear defroster lines. I think window tint looks great and it helps protect the interior. btw the tint look darker on a light colored car

Well, I HAD my windows 5% all around. I had it like that for 2 years
I have been pulled over many times and no one ever said anything
about it. I recently had some bad luck and a cop wanted to be a
dick and decided to give me a ticket. Not a big deal "fix it" ticket.

EDIT: and no he did not say that is illegal, he used a film machine
to test the thickness of the film. But like i said i have been pulled
over 7+ times in the last 2 years and they never said anything about it.

anything more than 150.00 is wasting your money for window tint.
Here in Texas its about 130.00 and that is a fair price. I have done it
myself only because when inspection time comes around i have to
remove it and re-apply it. So i decided to do it, the window tint cost
30.00?? If that and the application process is easy.

If i were you just to be safe i would do 5% on the rear three windows,
and somewhere around 25-35% for the fronts. But if you dont think it
will be a big deal go ahead and do 5% all around, i did for 2 years and
never had anyone say anything.

Hope this helps.

im doing mine this weekend actually... doin 5% on teh back three of my coupe, 35 on the doors, and then a 3" or 4" strip of 5% across the top of the windshield, laws here say that you can basically black out any window except the front 3, so im hoping that the 30% difference makes it less noticable, plus i dont speed too often for it to be a problem, doubt they would pull you over JUST for tint... too much paperwork for them to do

I think it is a standard everywhere (Not sure so dont flame me)
but 35% is pretty much the law. I want to get my front 50% tint
give it more of a... Hardcore look. lol And yes unless they are
really a dick they will not pull you over for window tint.. trust me.
I have been harassed about my front plate atleast 3 times and
nothing about window tint.

nah it varies from state to state, but pretty much you can get away with 35% anywhere.

look up the laws and find out, because i don't think 5% is allowed on anything except a limo. whether or not you get pulled over would pretty much depend on what state you live in as well.

it all depends on how dark you go--main reason being that when a cop does pull you over they want to immediatly be able to see inside the vehical to make sure you don't have something you're not supposed to.

mine wasn't that dark and i never got pulled over either but then i had to take it all out for the inspection and yah ive gotten pulled over for not having a front license plate too lol

*correct me if im wrong with anything

note: if for whatever reason you do get pulled over - turn the car off, put the windows down n put your hands on the wheel, that way the cop wont give you such a hard time - i got hit up doin 103 in a 55 - did this n told the cop i didnt realize how fast i was going explained was a new car n he let me off, ran plates n all that stuff but i was shocked as hell when he walked away =) i guess it helps a lil with workin the guy over i guess

also, in pa tint is no longer a state inspection, its just a moving violation type thing =) also... if you have an eye doctor - in some states liek delaware i know if you have a form from your optomitrist you can get away with ALL windows being 5% know some friends who did that, they get pulled over when they come visit just flash that paper n appologize for any troubles they may have caused, id deff look into it if your a lil leary about it

I got mine done for $200. came with life time warranty. at 5%
never been pulled over for it. some cops have better things to do.
rear defroster still works fine.
only con is some times its hard to see at night. especially when people don't turn there head lights on.

gonna get mine done eventually for about $80 with dealership quality work. Probably 35% all around with a 4" strip at the top of the front windshield.

I'm wondering what is meant by "inspection" I'd love to get 5% on my black vert but I'm a little nervous. I was gonna get 5% all around with about 4" on the windshield. My uncle is a mechanic, so if you mean emissions inspection, then that wouldn't be a problem.

inspection i believe would be safety inspection, only if you would for whatever reason get in a jam they may also go after your uncle for approving it! but he can always say it wasnt on the car when he did it (like they do for neons)

what is meant by inspection is that when you buy a car, the first thing you have to do is take it to a mechanic to get it inspected in order to put it on the road. Some states only make you get your car inspected one time (when you first buy it) other states (like virginia i think) make you come back after a certain amount of time and get it inspected again.
-emissions inspection is different

all i know is that when i bought my car and went to go get it inspected the first thing my mechanic said was to take the tint off or get a sticker like the cops have for it.

No i dont think anything is wrong with it.. But yes if a cop does pull you over
(just my opinion if you think they would say something about your windows)
Roll them down so he cannot haggle you about it.

Lucky man, i wish i had a friend who was a car inspector.

BTW guys 5% window tint is EXTREMELY dark it makes it
hard to see cars that are not lighted at night, hard to see curbs,
and just plain hard to see at night. So this is a risk that you
are going to be taking when you decide to go this dark.

Please be very careful with what you do.

I went with 5% on rear window and rear (2) windows .... and went with 35% on front windows.... i've gotten pulled over once for speeding, and the cop never said anything about them. Ussually as long as they can see you sitting in the drivers seat you should be good. I have a few friends that have 5% wrap around and pretty much all of them have gotten pulled over for it.

the 5% wrap around looks hot, but, beware of cops

finished mine up today, $40 for: 5% on the back one - one piece no seams, 35% on the back side two & fron two on the door, gonna put a strip of 35% prolly across the top of the windshield just a 4" strip, cept i have to take off my alarm antenna thinger, also found out my 3rd brake light burnt out today
whole process took from about 10am until 2-230 pm - only have a small bubble on the passengers side door =/ hope the heat gun or something can shrink that out

some bubbles will go away after when you first get it put on after a week or so...if it doesnt, try taking a credit card and mess with it, or take a small exacto knife and pop it

leon - depends on if the guaruntee labor too in that warrenty, no sense having to keep paying for them to fix it, if its something you want then go for it, most shop round here are like 200~ so 275 is not too far outta it, if the do a good job, all the defroster lines work before & after and no bubbles - then id say it is =) just make sure you clean your interior up really good before hand so no dust/dirt gets in your tint, also clean the hell outta ur windows

Use a razor around the defrost lines and you wont do that.

I've got 5% all the way around plus a strip for $120 done right. It is hard to see at night, backing up is a bitch and you gotta roll down the windows. Granted it looks badass..especially on a black car, you just have to adjust to it if you wanna see..or get something lighter. The choice is yours.

from what i have been told (atleast here) is you can have the back windows as dark as you want. heck you could paint them if you really wanted to. but i am not sure on what percentage is legal for the fronts. maybe 40% but not exactly sure. personally i don't want too dark because i can't see out the rear window at who's following me. i drove my friends civic a couple weeks ago and he had some really dark rears and i had the hardest time trying to drive. i am thinking maybe 50% all around on mine if even that dark.

depends on the day. 35 is visible in a good sunny day from the outside, and it looks dark during a cloudy day. 35 you can still see when you drive perfectly.

I'm thinking of just going all 35's to prevent from getting picked on by cops cause there is a lot of anal ones here in NYC. I might risk all 20s so I have to see. Right now charging me 275 is too much and i'll most likely wait it off till summer.

i paid 250 for 15% all around with lifetime warranty.

if your going to tint i would get darker than 35%. that wouldnt be worth it to me. and whatever you do, dont mix and match tints, looks horrible

Hey guys do you know what type of tints (brand) they use? We have so much different pricing range that I'm definitely sure its the brand that differs the prices.

actually, I would think it would be the cost of hourly labor that would vary the price. a tint job costing $200 in new jersey would probably cost $300+ in california.

I think my mom got just the back windows tinted on her 05 accord for like $275 or so.

The quality of the tint increases the price by a lot. crap-quality tints either rips easily or turns purple withing a matter of months as opposed to better quality ones where u dont need to keep comming back to get it fix
