well, took a few pics today with the doggy clear turns installed.
i really like the way they look against the white.
these are the last few pics ill be taking of the car before she undergoes some major changes to the exterior.
first, a couple pics of the doggy clear turns.
IPB Image

IPB Image
pics can NOT descibe how nice they really are.
for those of you who have DCW products, you know what im talking about.
for those who dont, if your thinking about getting somthing from him, DO IT, you wont be dissapointed.

the last 2 pics of the car in its present state:

IPB Image

IPB Image

plans are:
fix rust & rot @ rear wheelwells,
replace doors (bottoms rotting on mine)
repair all chips and dents
remove lotus skirts, and repair rivet holes
remove SSIII extensions
test fit and adjust OEM rear extensions
test fit authentic JDM "TRD" skirts
paint entire car an alternate of 8L5 (royal sapphire pearl) with some extra blue pearl and silver metallic, including jambs (engine bay will be done in flat black)
install extensions and skirts
install oem raingaurds
redo tint on rear quater windows
have rear window tinted
replace door mouldings
plus a little clean up and re-organizing of the engine bay, as well as some re-routing of lines, new intake, ect...
damn...writing it all down like that makes it seem like a LOT of work!! hahaha!! laugh.gif
THEN, ill be able to start working on the INTERIOR!! hahahahaha
thoughts and comments welcomed.

what are TRD skirts? are they OEM 96-99 skirts? if that's the case, i think it will flow better with the car than the lotus... i would keep the ssiii rears over the OEM though, but that's just me wink.gif

I ordered DCW clear gt4 turns also (for future gt4 front end)....so excited!

i hear you guys,..i 've always really liked the white and black contrast of the gt-4 front end and the C/F blade on the spoiler...but jenn and i have always wanted to go to a color with more depth...the white is just so....well, WHITE. it has no depth of color.
we thought about trying a pearl over the white, ( i made several test panels) but couldnt get the effect we were looking for, so, we went back to the color we've always wanted.

heres a pic of the "TRD" skirts:

the oem rears are made to flow perfectly with the trd skirts and oem fronts...thats one thing that has always bugged me about the car since i got the oem fronts ...the lines from the fronts, to the skirts, and rears were all off...this will correct all that wink.gif

Hey man the white is definately right on that car. but you are also right when you say no Depth. I just think white is so pure, like the motor you got running under there. I would love to keep the car white and as clean lookin as possible. but then again thats me. Be sure to keep us posted on the progress. Cant wait to see it when its all said and done.

hey,

since your car looks just like my 205 (almost) glad your repainting ..just joking..

i would reccomend getting US sidemarker light shaved and get some oem style side repeaters in clear from uk ... lexus is200 has them in europe in clear .... i think all US 6g's would look way better with euro/jdm side repeaters .. vcan get on ebay uk in many tints as well

i was going to go all TRD but i want only real TRD stuff and wing was just to salty so going all oem JDM/euro parts on 205 ..

good luck

well, time for a couple more progress pics..last weekend, i painted the inside of my rear wheelwells with POR15, a rust preventive paint.
i also recieved the OEM TRD skirts from doggy, unfortunately, they were broken in shipping, but i was able to repair them. the OEM rear extension replicas arrived without any damage.

i really REALLY like the way you can see the muffler abit in that first pic...it was more hidden with the SSIII rears.
looks like ill have to keep up more on polishing it from now on!! haha
ahhh...finally...the look i've been wanting to have on the car for a LONGGGGGG time, is finally comming together.

art, yea, thats exactly what i though when i saw it...lol

so this weekend, the project was painting the engine bay..
i just pulled a few things off the firewall, and cowl, taped off the fenders and windshield, and went to town, pretty much..lol
i didnt want it totally flat, or super shiney, so i went with a semi-gloss black.

IPB Image

IPB Image

i like the way it came out...much better than the super dirty looking white!!
haha

there's this one person in uk where i got mine from, he (or she, i dunno) has them for cheap and already comes with the corner cut for the gt4 bumper, the person can paint it to match your car as well if needed.
otherwise you can get a set from doGGy or chrisc and just cut them yourself

since they are the real OEM extensions, not copies, i had to trim them to fit the GT-4 bumper myself.
if you can get a set of copies that are precut, that would definetly be the way to go. fiberglass is not as easy to cut and shape as the OEM material.
the turns are from Doggy.
close ups of those are on PG1

Where'd you get the skirts and how much? Those are something I have been looking for depending on the price.

i was lucky enough to get a set of the real deal ones, from Doggy. he makes copies of them.
IIRC it was ~300$ for the pair.

brandon, fate,
thanks.

The new skirts and extensions definitely looks much smoother and better. On the rear extensions, did you remove that black plastic/rubber lining that is also screwed on the bottom of the bumper side? I am in the process of putting on my rear extensions too and debating whether I should remove it or not.

He did nothing to them. Then i first got the skirts - there was no chance to ship them from US to me, so i had no chance just to cut them in 2 half just to get them shipped to Lithuania from USA... So basicly i got the skirts in 4 parts. After i sold them to Manny (cuz i thought i will just keep the originals and replicate them (make a mold), but plans changed and i no longer will do the replicas...) i had to fix them, so i did... But the fix wasnt good enouth to witchstand another travel to US, so Manny got them in 4 parts too... so yea, basicly this is the story.

yea, you basicly have no choice but to take them off.

fate, like doggy said, i had to re-repair them when i got them from doggy, that section in the middle is where the repair is taking place, its still not 100% done, that was just a fitment check. wink.gif
thanks for the kind words, guys!

this is the first step in my photoshop attempt for Manny and Jenn.
not much yet, got rid of all the cans and junk holding them up and made the rear extensions a more similar color so you get a better idea of everything.
that's the easy part, I'll work on the color later

sorry Manny, I've been slacking tongue.gif
I did this a few days ago. sidemarker is shaved. tell me how that color looks, I'm working on matching the rest of the car to that color. its kind of hard though cause the white doesn't have the same kind of highlights as the skirts/extensions did so I'll have to add them myself to make it not look flat. I need a good picture of where the highlights should be

thats what shes working on art.
its pretty close to the actual color it will be too.
i wanted to do the gt-4 ones, but theyre set in on the fender, it actually has a rolled in edge on the fender, which is not exactly easy to replicate.
dustin threw out the idea of just totally shaving the marker, since i do have the marker in the headlight, so i asked steff to shave the marker to see what it would look like.
to be honest, i dont like the look of it shaved.
if i ever did that, i would have to shave EVERYTHING. doorhandles and all.
with our winters, thats out of the question.

the last thing i wanna hear @ 3:45am is MANNYYYYYY....I CANT GET IN THE DAMN CAR!!!!!!!!
not even once. wink.gif
while i agree shaving things makes the car "cleaner", i didnt like the way having just the marker gone looks. the doorhandle throws it all off.
i dont wanna shave just one thing. like the markers. then its just looks like another unfinished project.

Ok im gonna be the ass and say this:

WHY THE hell you aint removed all the stuff out from your door jams? like door switcg, and door lock?

Manny - you are doing one of the hell job - so be sure you will get this job done 100% right. Cut your side windows to make the painting look perfect, remove all the rubber seale holders from your door jams too!

Its really not that hard to just remove as much parts as its posible before pinting, and this does helps a lot to make a perfect paint job...

Btw - you should now go for the Gold wheels biggrin.gif Celica STi biggrin.gif

because its the door jams. its rarely seen, as long as there is no white paint seen, im happy.
i cannot afford to have the car down for more than a coupe days at a time, so removing windows and stuff wont happen.
the front and rear windows will be replaced after paint, so right before it goes in, im going to cut the mouldings back, so that the new window moulding will have paint under them.
the wife dont like gold.
no gold wheels. lol
99% of the stuff that is removable from the car, will be right before paint.
all the lights and stuff will all be taken off, the bumpers, mirrors, hood vents, extensions, wing, skirts, ect will all be painted off the car.
trust me romas, when its done, there will be NO white left that is visable at all. lol at least till i pull the motor and paint the engine bay..but lets hope i dont have to do that for a LONG time. wink.gif

Manny - cutting side windows DO NOT requer nothing special, and time isnt a problem at all - Gluing them back - is easy job - i can give all directions HOW and etc - and this will give you the perfect job around the side windows...
