sneaky fast Options

Awhile back someone posted that volvette (believe it was supersprynt, I just IM'd him...it was him.).

I was talking to some friends the other day about cars, and ofcourse the subi STI came up. So I tossed out the idea of the Subi Forester STI from '05 (only JDM market). They immidatly shot it down, "its a wagon....it weighs like 4000lbs....it wouldnt compete with the STI. (sedan)" I argued the same motor, suspension, and drive train ment its basicly the same car, just the weights would be different, and from that stand point, driving ability could make up the difference. Again, came the hecklers...blah blah. Long story short, I decided to look into it.

My point was that the STI forester could hang (stay with, not neccisarily beat) the STI impreza in a race. (Lets just say drag for the sake of easy)

So apon paruzing the net I found a site that looked at both cars.

(unfortunately I couldn't find legitimate specs for both cars for '05, so I based my info on what my friends would more then likely pick as there STI to go against my forester)

If you look at both cars specs, ull see this:

HP: 300hp | 265hp
Torq: 290ftlbs | 279ftlbs
Weight: 3351lbs | 3306lbs (LOOK AT THAT...so its not the fatter of the 2)
0->60 <5.0s | n/a
Top speed 155mph | n/a

unfortunatly there were no performance numbers for the forester, because I would like to see how it performed compaired to the Impreza.

So my point being, even I believed that the forester would be heavier, and slower. Its not heavier! I was just shocked at that, but I will say that if you put the '05 forester, against the '07 impreza, I'm pretty much definate that the forester will lose, but it would DEFFINATLY give the impreza a pretty good run for its money.

I would definatly like to see the forester come stateside. The fact that you could obtain a "sneaky fast" car that has Impreza STI type numbers is mind boggling to me. I would honestly considering buying one, if I had the money.

(I also suppose there is a personal fact to my choice, I believe cars that appear to be slow, and are much faster are more entertaining to me, then cars that appear fast and hopfully are. I just found this info interesting, and I figured I'd toss it out there.)

I think the Forester would be cool especially if you were going to rally race or do any off roading. I like the idea of swapping the 2.5 turbo in old Legacy GT. It's even lighter. But to be able to buy an STi Forester is pretty dang cool.
