I don't have any specific model in mind, and I would go with a Pioneer, very durable, easy to navigate, relatively easy to fix. I have had the same deck for the past 6 years (has been in 5 different cars) and still is a pretty sweet deck. (and just recently got a cord to directly connect my ipod)

I have a jensen.. not top of the line but has some nice features and seems to work well. Also decent price.

Alpine are not too pricey and sound/perform great. The only problem I have with mine is that it is a little too bright at night, but I'm sure that varies by model. You should be able to find what youre looking for in that price range.

sony xplod are good. they have a unique program in them so that a cd can be creaded to have over 400 songs, and a cd, not a dvd. its awesome, i have one and i got if from a friend but they dont seem too pricy

I know Sony Explod is not too popular but their atrac3 technology is the $hit! I have one in mine and I can put over 300 songs on one CD, organised anyway you want like MP# but with CD quality sound unlike that crappy hissy MP3 sound. I always run Sony headdecks with all RF speakers and amps and I'm really happpy with the quality [just don't buy it from walmart - substandard quality or something]. I have never had one break on me and I usually want to upgrade or it gets stolen or something - that's the only reason I change them out. The sound quality IMO is waaaay better than Pioneer or Pioneer Premier. But just IMO.
Best bang for the buck with the best features. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

Hey man, this is what you need to get. The new Pioneer 8100. I just installed mine, and it is the most amazing head unit i have ever owned! It has the AUX you want and fully LCD dot matrix screen and tons of fine tunning options. Its the bomb.. |

That's why there is no other choice for me. Also Sony has the features and sound quality/adjustability to match [or exceed in some peoples opinion] Pioneer. IDK - 300+ CD quality songs per CD with organization is just the **** to me. You'll never listen to MP3 or hook up your IPOD again. -------------------- ![]() |

if i had a choice... i would have to pic Pioneer over Sony.
I have never had any luck with the X-plod stereos... They seem good at first but the eliability has always sucked. Things may have changed over the years, but when i got my first Xplod in 2000 I had to replace it because the detatchable face motor broke. I got another Sony for my other car and it started giving me disc read errors after about 7 months of use. Before anyone says that it was a dirty disc or anything like that.... These were new Cd's and they all worked fine when i tossed the cheap sony and got my Pioneer. But like I said.... their quality may have improved over the past 6-7 years and that Atrac3 looks pretty cool. But I am on my second pioneer, a DEH-M9400MP, and have put this in 3 different cars, and have no complaints. Maybe becasue this is a high end head unit (originally almost $900 retail, but I got a good deal on ebay), maybe not. -------------------- -M-

The detachable face stereos are bad from any brand. Sooner or later that stuff always wears out. I tell people I do systems for not to get them because of that $hit. I've owned about 5-6 Sony's through various cars and I've never had one problem with any of them. Ever.
I'm just not a fan of Pioneer's sound. My friend has an all beat/paintjob car and his Pioneer Premier doesn't sound anywhere near as good as my Sony and he freely admits it too. It's all good - personal preference. Check out the atrac3 capabilities and I bet you're sold on it. Seriously I never want to hear a crappy MP3 again. LOL. -------------------- ![]() |

alpine all the way. they have this new one that you can buy at best buy for about $200 and you can buy a cord to connect to your ipod to control it and charge it straight from the deck for another $30. now if you don't have an ipod any pioneer or alpine with sat radio capabilities has the option of getting a aux bus cord for any mp3. that is what i am doing. i have a 6yr old pioneer with the cord running to my glove box. as for the xplod, i haven't really had any experience. i have heard both ways but if you talk to anyone at a car audio shop they will tell you alpine or pioneer. don't get a jvc. they look cool and have some decent features but i hear they don't last for long. and definitely don't get a Dual!!! that has to be the cheapest piece of junk brand out there.
that's my opinion on the matter -------------------- |
