Hi Guys!
After a stressful week trying to find an annoying creaking noise from the front left handside suspension, i came to realise that its my figuire 8 bush. I greased it and put it back in and it seems fine, i have a feeling the noise may come back, so my question is where is the best and cheapest place to get these bushes? oh btw mines SS3 Gen6 with SuperStrutSuspension any help would be great saq PS. Just realised that this should be in Suspension/Brakes and Handling section. Mods feel free to move this topic This post has been edited by sosolidsaq: Feb 22, 2007 - 7:39 PM |

Alan,
The fig 8 piece connects 1 of the lower arms to the strutt. They look like an 8 shape hence the name. Can't find a pic but if you have a superstrutt suspension then you'll deffo be able to see it. You have 2 lower arms, 1 is perfectly straight with a bush and the fig 8 in the middle and the other is a banana shape. When mine have been on their way out they've made the steering veer to the side slightly on acceleration/deceleration. Mainly because its allowing 1 wheel to twist slightly. Hope that helps. |

hmm, not sure about the nipples mate, can't say i've ever seen anything like that.
Before disasembling anything I would try getting some wd40 or similar into the joints and see if that temporarily gets rid of the squeeks. If you spray 1 joint at a time and leave it to soak in for a while then you might be able to narrow down where the noise is coming from (what I mean is spray 1 joint, leave to soak if still noise then spray another etc until noise is gone, then you could maybe disassemble that joint and regrease if necessary?) |
