I got the paint done, its a couple posts down, take a look! smile.gif

Its in for new paint.. (Dark "Starrbrust Blue Met") Its red right now but won't be for long.. however i'm without my baby untill friday.. And now i'm just praying i picked out the right color.. But a little late to go back.

Anyway just figure i would tell everyone. =p

Oh and my plans for when i get her back..

Coilover springs (drop 2.5 in front, than 3.5 in rear so the car appears even to the ground)
Windows full tint
cold air intake (tierd of my air intake right now)
than white rims (probably won't happen till summer cause of the whole $$$ issue)

Well friday i'll try to take some pictures and post em!

(Now i'm off to buy my coilover springs. smile.gif

yeah well everything i'm going to do is still up in the air, rims might come first if i can find the size i need and the kind i want.. but i think coilovers might be first.. but i've heard bad things about them..?

I dunno, i'm pretty happy its finaly getting painted. The front bumper was re-panted by the previous owner and it didn't match the shade of red on the car. And some of the paint on the hood was chipping.

I found some coilovers on ebay for a good price. just have to talk to a shop about install. I know the guy so i think i can get it done for a REALLY good price (hopefully)

And as for pictures as soon as i get the car back i'll get some pics! I want it back for friday night!!!! smile.gif

you hear bad things about bad installs and/or eBay brand coilovers. Something so important as suspension is something I wouldn't skimp on. If you know how to do it, or you know a place that knows how to do it, they aren't bad at all. I love my suspension setup. It doesn't bounce everywhere, but it isn't stiff as a rock. It's perfect.

Post up pics when the car is done. Where did you take it to?

A friend of my dads owns a maaco and promised me they would do a full strip, primer, and make sure it gets the best prep work.. And i only have to pay for the cost of supplies and tiny bit of body work that had to be done.. So i get a top of the line paint job for 800$ insted of 3,000$. I always knew it was good to know people.

One of my dad clients owns a maaco so it only cost me the base paint job but i got the prep work and stuff for free. Only thing they didn't paint was the underside of the hood, but for 500$ i'm not going to complain.

I like the new color biggrin.gif Now all you need is a good set of wheels/tires and lowering springs, possibly more, to bring the exterior to another level. It will take time but I know you can make it happen. GOOD JOB!!

Yes i agree. Thanks for the words of encourgment. I really want to get some white rims, but right now my tires are 14's so it will probably take till summer to get em. But i'm going to get some lowering springs really soon. Than once i get some tires/rims it'll be much better.

thin fishing line and a blow dryer. Heat it up and slide the fishing line behind it to cut the glue off. Then use something like goo gone to rub the glue off. Probably should wax the area right after.

Yeah - about 1-2"s. Looks kinda funny like that. Maybe it's just cause we are used to the way they normally look. The paint job looks really nice. Did you get the door jambs etc painted too?
i just noticed the coupes don't have that extra hump in the back at the top that looks somewhat Supra-ish. Strange. So many differences in the rear of the coupes.

Yes, door jams, and trunk. but not under the hood. don't know why they didn't paint it but i'm not going to make a big deal about it.

I'll probably either take the emblems off completely or put them back where there suppose to be.. i kinda wanna take em off and do..

Well the toyota symbol is not glued on. It has two posts into the trunk lid, so if you wanted to take that one off, you should have done it before paint, and then bondo'd over them. I demand more pics though!

Like the 4th gens and before? I think maybe you could still do it if you used the sticker to cover the holes and maybe put some tape to back it on the inside. Kinda ghetto though.

very very nice - i agree with the rims - dont necessarily need to lower it just yet, just some nice rims that are flush with the edge of the body

ok.. now should i go white or black rims?

White..

Pros ;
Probably look nice on blue paint

Cons ;
Hard to find for the price range i'm in
Dirty easy
Hard to find for size i want

Black..

Pros ;
Easier to find in price and size
Can't notice easy if they get dirty

Cons ;
Probably won't "ping" with the paint as much

Whats everyone else think?
