I have always wondered, because I drove my friends evo and it didn't hit full boost until 4200 rpm.

wow, thats good. I don't know why the evo hits full boost at 4200. It was fun, but not as fun as I imagined.

The Evo has a twin entry turbo too.....

It depends on the car.
It will spool at the lowest RPM on and Alltrac. They are piglets.
A MR2 or FWD Celica is quite a bit lighter, so they will spool a few hundred RPMs higher.

I don't remember exactly what RPM mine spooled at.
It's been a few years since it was stock...

Another reason for the EVO to take longer is because the full boost is 19 psi. (and drop down to ~17)

my friend said something like that. 19 psi.

How come it wasn't as fun as I anticapated?

its also a much bigger turbo.

a lot of it depends on what gear you are in, too. i ntoiced that in my car, when im on the highway, in 5th gear, the boost seems to spool the fastest at around 3200 rpm.

was it an 8 or a 9? 9s have more a more advanced cam timing system that should let you hit full boost around 3k.

His car is either not upgraded at all or has a bigger turbo than stock. Unless you are in first or second gear, you should get full boost by at least 3500rpm in an EVO...

His evo was completely stock. I keep telling him to do something to the car, but won't. Maybe because we are both still broke college students.

or he lives within his means and can afford the car + the ins. and his budget is created around these minimums and doesn't allow for modifications...
or he isn't interested

just because they can afford the car doesn't mean they have a lot of extra cash to spend on modifications...thats a narrow thought

not everyone with an EVO had their mommy and daddy buy their car either...
these are just weak stereotypes......

my mom bought me my celica...whats your point?
that doesn't mean people just have money to through around..

It is really easy to get a loan for a car. Stretch the payments out to 8 years (yes, really - crazy, I know!) and you can afford the monthly payments pretty easily. I know a couple people have done this. kindasad.gif

Someday those poeple will learn their lesson and maybe start living within their means.

But what if the car is his life. Nothing makes him happy but his car. Yes, its sad that the car means more then a girl friend and school, but its what makes him happy that counts. Maybe thats why he doesn't have a cell phone or anything.

There is a time to live within your means, and thats retirement. Until then, balls to the wall and the rest will sort itself out.
