is there such thing as a left hand drive st205. if so, can you buy the frount cut and transfer the wiring over with it and not have to cut up the harness. thanks JDcelica

Yes, they exist in Europe. Good luck finding one for a decent price though! It is worth your time to just extend the harness or fully modify it to go the other direction (individually changing the lengths of each wire) - you'll save in the neighborhood of $5k-10k.

So the hype about the wiring harness is just to extend it? nothing else needs to be done that requires major work

There is more wiring to be done, but it is on the order of 10 wires or so that need to be changed other than extending the harness (though, extending the harness does take a long time!).

There are a couple guys on here who have done the specific swap you are talking about, so hopefully they can chime in.

I did all the wiring for my swap, and adjusted the length of each wire so that the harness looks exactly like it would have if I started with a LHD harness. It took a bunch of time, but I needed to do significant other wiring changes to get the ST205 motor into the Camry, so that was the right route for me.

do you have to extend it because the entry point is on the other side of the fire wall. also how much experience do you think u might need to do the harness because i have so good knowledge of auto mechanics.

if you buy a 2nd gen st185 clip... then you have to rewire everything AND extend the harness.
if you buy a 3rd gen st205 clip... then you only have to change a few simple wires, AND extend the harness.

if your handy with a soldering gun and have some basic wiring skills with reading wiring diagrams, then you should be able to convert the 3rd gen harness. however the 2nd gen harness is much harder. your best bet is to mail that out to someone and not have to deal with it.

you can buy a clip with the awd setup. i got all that stuff with my 2nd gen clip. but its useless for 99% of the people out there. my rear end ended up going to the junk yard.

for my car, i did some of the wiring myself and sent the harness out to dg_performance who helped me with the rest.

do more research. these are all very basic questions that have been documented in all the stickies on this site, years ago.
