There is a place here in Houston called Sun's Auto that we bought a Caldina GT4 clip, a Levin SC clip and they also had a BEAMS celica clip, a couple MR2T clips and a bunch of ST-185's. Call information and get their number. They are good guys and gave us great deals - $1500 ea for the Caldina GT4 and the Levin SC clips.
I talked to Jose.
Good luck.

Here is what I found on the web:
Suns Auto. 14102 Chrisman, Houston, TX 77039 Phone: (281)449-7204 Monday - Saturday
I remember that street name so that's it. Give them a call and post up what you find [not just ST-185 if you have time].

Weird. They just PM'd me on a local site and they say they still have the BEAMS clip and several 2nd Gen 3S-GTE clips from Celicas in stock and "priced to go".
They say they have some with CT-26 and with ceramic CT-26. They say call and ask for David.

Don't forget to ask for an RC, CS, or Group-A halfcut if you want the water to air intercooler otherwise you'll need to budget for a front mount intercooler.

Holy Shiet!!!! I talked the guy [Omar] and he's a really nice guy. His prices are awesome too. He says they are trying to get into the Toyota thing [last time I was there it was mainly Nissan clips] and so he's offering great deals. Here's what he has and approx. prices:

(1) BEAMS clip - $2200 [Lew calls dibs in 5,4,3...]
(3) ST-185 ATA Clips - $1200-1600
(3) ST-185 WTA Engine Sets [engine, Tranny, ECU and wiring harness] - $800*
(?) 02 Altezza BEAMS [Dual VVT-i] - didn't ask pricing

He probably has more stuff but this is the stuff I asked about.
First I would ask that if anyone calls them - please be curteous, don't run the guy around and never buy anything and PLEASE let him know that Matt gave you the info. I'm gonna try to work something out for myself so I need him to know I sent him the business.
Also they can arrange shipping for you or ship it themselves if you are within 300miles.
I also told him about Tweak and his wiring harness and swap business so he knows we have a means to get swapped besides DIY.
Hopefully some of you guys get hooked up and swapped soon. Good luck

Contact info:
Suns Auto
14102 Chrisman, Houston, TX 77039
Phone: (281)449-7204
Monday - Saturday
Ask for Omar [General Manager]

*BTW - Be aware that if you decide to get the WTA ST-185 engine sets you will still need the water pump and radiator thing for the WTA setup. You would get this with a clip but not with an engine set.

Hopefully they still have that kind of pricing later this summer when I'm going to pick up my clip.

Thanks for calling them and the info

beams is the 3sge. the motor that they put in the ssIII celi as well as in the is300 aka altezza. great for NA power.
personally i don't know yet on if i want the beams or if i want a 3sgte. na or fi? that is a decision that i will struggle with til i can afford it.

Celica. But there is a couple Altezza ones too.

To the others:
The BEAMS is the 3S-GE engine in the SS-II and SS-III later model 6th Gen Celicas [and MR2's] that got VVT-i and 197HP stock. Look it up on here for better info as I'm just running off the top of my head here and could have the HP slightly wrong. The best part is the engine is rare, the tranny you all crave, drops in a GT like butter and has the most amazingly smooth power curves of any engine I've ever seen. Beautiful N/A power without the Turbo headaches. Downside is - the parts are gonna be a b1tch to get ahold of if anything in the head breaks.

I couldn't find one. Call omar for pics. You did tell them I refered you right? That's all I ask. Plus if anyone actually buys one please let me know. I figure if I bring them enough business they have to hook me up. Omar seems receptive to that idea too.

No, but I'm not buying one now anyways. I'm too broke frown.gif . Don't really feel like doin it on credit card either. 14% interest....meh. I hate being 19.

I'll tell him when I decide to get the clip. Maybe by July or August. Also, do they have any mr2 trannies?

Um the owner is Japanese [i think - oriental at least] and I've been there before. They keep the clips indoors in a huge warehouse and not stacked on top of each other which is better than most places I've seen.
Way to get overly picky. Misspellings = nothing

Hmmm.....they could use a little help with the web design......perhaps my IT company I work for......lol

P.S.: They didnt have any RC's, CS's, or group A's in. AND their prices on their site are higher that their verbal quote. Make sure you get a paper quote before making any deals, but overall, the guy sounded cool and very customer services focused. These guys might be the place to go with.

IIRC, management's changed hands a few time, but the owner's the same guy. They haven't been able to get around to updating the website with the change of hands, so they recommend that you call in for a price. I think at the moment, they have a new container coming in, so whatever's still there has to go for them to make room for the new stuff.

But yeah, I've been there before, and like Negative said, they don't have their clips sitting on top of one another. They're placed indoors on shelves. I was able to crouch around the BEAMS clip without worrying about the FC3s RX-7 clip above me falling off and landing on my head. If I have time to make it out there, I'll try to take pics and post'em up.

Currently on Houston-Imports, they have the 3SGTE (engine, tranny, ECU, and harness) for $900-$1000. http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=375213
http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=381798

Like stated before though, it's best to give them a call.

The BEAMS clip? The one I saw was a Black car, RHD, with a manual tranny.

I know they'll sell the tranny and engine together, but I don't know about just the motor by itself.

Seriously? Not even to get an E-153 with LSD? You wouldn't have the slightest problem selling it on here tho. I've never heard of anyone who didn't prefer manual in the tuning world outside of high HP drag racers before.

Would there be any downside of getting an mr2 clip? What stuff would have to be relocated? Price difference? I am sure I want the e153 and I'd think it would be easier to just get in all together.

Tranny should be fine. For the Japs, their 1st gear is out there in left field and they just keep moving the stick inwards as they go up the gears while we start from the inside and go out from our respective sitting locations. Kinda get the idea?

The clips I saw were in really good shape. You should def ask for multiple pictures and ask them all the questions you need to before you buy.

The BEAMS they have is a clip not a motor set. It will have the body panels but all your gonna get over a USDM 96+ is a grill and some splitters [well that and a badass motor and tranny, ecu etc... laugh.gif ]. Just seemed like that was in response to Benji's comment about the body panels. I think Lewfx was all about the clip.

I just saw this thread. Be VERY careful with Sun's Auto, I've had a very bad experience with them. Last year, I bought a 2nd gen 3SGTE engine which was advertised as having a complete harness, ECU, MAP sensors, AFM, etc, and when it showed up, it had a 1ST GEN wiring harness and ECU attached to it (not a typo) and no sensors. It was just laid on there since most everything would not plug in. I made a least a dozen phone calls over there an talked to several people including Mr. Sun, and they just kept saying that they "had to find the paperwork" or whatever, and "would call me back", which they never did. Finally I had to purchase a 2nd gen harness, ECU, and all sensors because they wouldn't do anything about it.

BEWARE!

Yeah, as long as the AFM is there you're okay, you don't need the airbox. That does mean, of course, that the white one has been modified to some degree, which gives you an idea of who owned it before. It could go either way. Assuming that the engine is actually good.

that's just ridiculous. Unless they're shipping by next-day air, there's no way shipping should cost that much. Most other companies like DriftMotion quotes roughly $800 to ship a 1JZ Supra clip from Cali to Florida. Shipping to Kansas from Texas shouldn't be more than like $450. Those guys are just as crazy as SGP Racing asking $174 for 10 T-bolt clamps and 4 couplers for 2.5" intercooler piping.

ok no that $1400 was shipping from austrila. suns wants $1100 for shipping. so i think im jsut gunna go get it my self its not that far and at the price he told me for the clip it'd be a steal compared to jarco.
