i bought a 3000 watt amp from ebay.

i hook it up "correctly" no bad wires or bad connections, everything was perfect

and the amp caught fire and the fuses didnt blow.

raaaawr!

what can i do? return it and ask for a refund?

its got a 2 year warranty but i just got it yestrday and it went in flames.

should i use the warranty? or return it, get a refund and get another amp "i paid 120 for it."

i ran 8 gauge wire from the battery to the amp, same for the ground.

i have 2 subs wired into 4 ohms. they played fine on my 250 watt amp.

i was thinking the same thing - its 3000 watts, but how many RMS watts was it?

also, 3000 watts is ALOT for a celica's small alternator! (in fact i wouldnt even consider such a large amp lol)

3000 watts is full power, which i wasnt running at.

i had the 2 subs running at a 4 ohm load.

so that would give me... 400 rms. but i dont understand how it got toasted.

the amp looks normal, its all internal damage.

i just hooked up my other 2 channel 250 watt maxx amp.

i have 2 infinity speakers in the front and i have the subs bridged.

i havent had any problems with this setup but i still dont understand how the 3000 watt amp got toasted.
