hey guys, ive been asked a few times to supply the part numbers for the red/black curren tails, i know this is a stupid question, but will the part number be on the plastic lens or on the casing somewhere else? just cos looking at it, there are a few numbers on the lens, but if its on the casing i have to take off the actual taillight cos the casing isnt visible without taking the whole light off, so just thought i'd check if the lens numbers are the part numbers.
cheers

ok this is what it has on the lens:

Stanley RR1827 , then a funny lil symbol like an O with two horizontal lines running through it followed by R-1148.

this is the same on both lenses and the left hand also has 'LH' and the right side has 'RH'

are any of these the part numbers? or do i need to take the whole unit out?

dont have time do take the tail off till next weekend now if the below isnt what your after.

also, you know that they dont have sidemarkers? i dont know if that makes them illegal in usa, so you might have to wire up some seperate sidemarkers for the back

nah sidemarkers not being there are fine. the JDM hatch tails don't have em either. no one cares... maybe in cali. the part numbers will be on the back of the casing.

that's a sweet sweet car btw... biggrin.gif

you could always give the part numbers to save me having to take off my tails wink.gif

i doubt that it'll become hugely popular, many people will spew at the price and not do it, and im sure that the numbers of 6gc still around are small enough that your not gonna see every celica coupe with curren tails

No theres a reason i wasnt giving out the parts numbers. Mainly to keep these things extremely rare, and my car one of the few. I liked saying my car is probably one of the few in the country.

They light up differently than stock coupe's. Know how theres like a space between the lights on each light. Looks like 4 spots of light, well that doesnt happen, they merge and make one big one.user posted image
These are stock coupe lights - the gap in between each light isnt there, which is a downside for me, l liked it.

I ordered my pair of curren tails like 3 weeks ago and i was going to post the part number on here also,....buuuuuutttttt... Supersprynt is right. I want to be different and rare. B4 i actually even heard or saw these tails, i had a pic of getting some custom made exactly the same. WE would of been two of the few in the USA (MAYBE THE ONLY 2) w/ those tails.

I mean thats why Kuya1234 took off his pics out of his profile.

Honestly I don't really understand why you guys don't just post them. CurrenZS is gonna come back with the part numbers next weekend anyhow. Why not save him the trouble and post the numbers now? Besides you might even save some face.

seriously. Like i'm down with being original and all, i think its cool or whatever. But the guy is going to post those part #'s in a week. So, you'll only be able to be original for like another week or so. Whatever...

man...you guys are ghey...anyone want part numbers for the JDM high/low beam headlights? tongue.gif. people will find out the number sooner or later, and they will come up on ebay, or somethin like that. sooooo, all you are doing is delaying the inevitable. besides. who cares if another celica across the nation has it? why don't you help out the people that are trying to be in the same community, w/ the same car none the less. it's not like celica enthusiasts are eveywhere...so why not help out the few, and the proud?

selfish conceited bastards....rolleyes.gif

-John-

i'm just glad i dont want the part numbers, because i'd hate to have a coupe. gag. if i had one, i'd be doin this everytime time i saw a hatch ==> user posted image

Coupes are nicer wink.gif

My lights are in my car ne ways its not like its going to be any less trouble for me.

Theres going to be conflicting views on this like everything else in the world. I was just hoping some people would be able to look past being pissed off and see the reasons behind this. I try my best to help everyone out this is just something that I would rather keep to myself. Sorry for the inconvenience.

well. we really don't care about what you believe evidently, we're just stating that what you're doing, or NOT doing for that matter, is all for not. it is futile, for the part numbers will be revealed, but just remember who was being a dick about it. wink.gif. remember that, and take that into consideration the next time you ask for something.

ok, i disagree with the part about kuya. he was doing a lot of custom stuff that he didn't want copied, which was why he took the stuff down. that's different than having these tails. everyone who wants them is going to be able to get them very soon, so everything you guys have done is gonna be moot anyway, and it's totally different. they aren't custom, they are just a toyota part, and it's not like you thought up the idea of curren tails.

w/e. i'm gonna look and find the numbers and post them.

I never said i thought up the idea...but when you do things to cars like we do, originality and being different is what scores you the points, and gets you the trophies. I'm afraid these are going to turn into altezza lights on Civics...all people wit coupes are going to get them, they're going to get played out. They wont be special or different ne more, its just going to be oh, yeah wow currens, great havent seen THOSE before.

And you guys wanna change this from a diagreement to a name calling contest, well just get it over wit, cuz i dont do that shizit. I'm not asking ne body to care about what i think or believe im just asking to understand.

And, as you can see, the GT4 front fascad is getting popular... im sure not everyone is happy bout that.

Well, I'm going to start making Currenesque tails for the coupe pretty soon. I've started and they are looking good. I'd probably sell them for about $70 a set. Anybody interested?

I wouldn't worry about the Curren tails getting played out. There aren't many Celica owners and even fewer with Coupes. Even fewer know about the curren tails and even fewer can afford them. I know I'll never buy them for my coupe. I'd say maybe a few hundred people across the U.S. may end up with them, so you will still have a very unique car whereever you're from, especially compared to Hondas, etc. It seems like everyone has something when you meet online, but when you get off line us Celica owners are pretty spread out.

so is the 3s swap. tongue.gif
and the shogun kit.
and um...yeah. smile.gif. again, not name calling, just judging your character. if someone else gets the same thing, hey, be like, TIIIIIIGHT we like the same thing. smile.gif. like the JDM headlights..i got em, and i don't care who else gets em, they're still tight ass. and no, curren coupe tails are not going to become like euro tails for the civic. not many people will take the time to research and find a source from japan and actually order and wait for them, and pay the price that they will probably need to pay. just like you, you just got lucky and got them off ebay. wink.gif

yeah, that's just what happens tho. i'm sympathetic, but like, getting JDM tails for the hatch, which is the same thing, i mean, they are tight as hell, and i can't deny anyone who wants to get them. our cars are rare enough anyway, that something as trivial as tail lights aren't going to make or break you at a show. also, the curren tails are very similar to the coupe ones, it's not like the US hatch tails vs the US jdm tails, so i mean, i understand where you are coming from, but in terms of showing your car, i really don't think it will have any affect.

I also thought about that. It is expensive to get these tails. I think super paid around $300 off of ebay. I'm paying WWAAAAAAYYYY more for them.

Then the whole kuya thing, yeah i know that he is doing a lot of CUSTOM stuff, but so am i. There are only about 2-3 people that really know my entire project. And the Curren tails are part of the customizing.

So I'm sorry if you guys think we are acting like pricks, bastards, a$$@#L3s or w/e. But its just WE want to be different. Super, kuya, myself and everyone here.

well, i consider my car to be different and unique, and i have JDM hatch tails. but so do like 30 other people, i just think they are fly, so do a lot of people... but dude, don't worry about it. i bet no more than like 20 people ALL over the country end up with curren tails even after the part numbers are out.

Ok well on the character thing, its tough judging character over the internet, especially on one topic ya kno? I'm a good guy i swear, this is just something i feel strongly about, and yeah you guys make good points and I respect all of it and all u guys, and im not trying to make enemies, even tho im sure theres a few that now hate my guts.
rolleyes.gif
On the other played out things, yeah the Invader kit is hella played out, but i already have that and i cant really do ne thing about it now, especially since the other kits are all from japan and waaaaaay expensive. The 3s swap - its talked about alot, and on the celica.net website i think theres almost 30 with it done, and thats including all other generations. Granted, thats not EVERYONE, but its probably a good ball park figure.

These things are getting long, so lets move on. They're coming out in a few days.

The simple answer... just don't post about your project... that's why I've just been observing lately on the boards... I'm tired of people giving me beef for little crap like this... so my solution is to just simply not advertise anything about my projects...

If people want to do something that I worked hard for at discovering... I'd want them figure it out on their own rather than leeching off my hard work. People need to learn to do some work and research rather than expecting to be spoon every single time the catch a snag...

Just my $0.02 (and one of the occasional that everyone will be reading from now on)...

People might think I'm even more a dick after reading this... but oh well... at least I know that all the people that know me in person would beg to differ...

John and I are currently trying to do the 4agze swap. What if John was a dick about it? Didnt help me out at all? The point of this place is community. I dont think that having JDM tails is gonna make u all that unique. The way i figure it, John and I will be one of 2 people in the world the 6th gen celica w/ the 4agze. That's something. Will it last? I doubt it. I'll gladly help anyone who ask me questions even tho i probably wont be able to answer them. I am sure John intends to keep answerin peoples questions. I think kuya is right, and that if you dont want anyone to copy off of you just dont post about it. But as you can see, there still isnt as much originality in these tails cuz, they're off of a stock car in japan, and other people can get them just as easy. If you want something really original the only way you are gonna get it is to start playing with fiberglass. I dont hate any of you guys, i just think that it's futile to hold out on something like that. I dont know, maybe i'm just rambling....

Agreed

And no offense but they are just tailights...i mean its not like they are a custom bodykit built by hand or something

And what people fail to understand is that if everyone did represent their car to their fullest... and everyone did the same thing(s) to their Celica's... we won't be any different from those Civic / Integ owners...

All you'll be hearing is... damn... that's played out... damn... that's rice... damn... all those Celica's look the same ... etc...

This is why I have high respect for those that have done their own research and their own dirty work to make their cars unique and stand out from the rest.

Or paid the most money?

EDIT: I just spent about the last two hours E-mailing about 50 people with 96+ Currens. I'm sure one of them will be willing to give me the part numbers.

Kuya is in a different category. I didn't see his pics originally, but if he thinks people will copy his originality then thats ok in my books - Doesn't bother me in the slightest. But the fact is that our cars are already rare, and finding parts for them can be hard. Super, the only reason I can think of for you to not give em out is that you went through a lot of pain to get those part numbers. Did someone just give them to you? I really want to know the answer to that question. Are you a hypocrit?

I don't want to go on repeating what other people have said, hell, I'm not even going to get the lights. I just can't understand how you spend so much time in this community learning from others and teaching them as well, and hold back when people ask you for help. Our cars aren't like civics, most people don't even know what they are.

It probably means **** to you, and I do believe you are a good person, but as an "internet entity" you've lost respect from me and others I'm sure - over something fairly minor.

I think the problem should be solved once and for all by the mods adding all JDM / Alltrac parts to the parts database WITH NUMBERS.

Oh PS to kuma:

The whole point of this website is to help people enjoy their 6th gen. The part database and how-to articles are there to help people with projects and sourcing parts. From your statement, maybe Coomer should delete those sections?

I understand what your saying, but there is a difference between paying a shop to fit out your car, and giving someone some part numbers - they still have to source the parts, order them, wait long periods of time for them, install them, and enjoy them. Also if you have looked at OReO's gt4 pictures thread you would know that projectors and JDM tails are hardly unique - there are thousands of cars with them.

Me hold back? HAHA... Why don't you perform a SEARCH for topics associated with my board name to determine how much info and feedback I've provided to this community. If you honestly feel that I've been holding back and not helping out, well my friend, you obviously haven't spent enough time on this board over the past couple months reading what I've posted. It appears that your attitude towards me has been developed over recent posts that I've made in regards to sharing info about my sideskirts. However, I honestly think you should take some time and read the OTHER posts that I've made over the past couple of months.

I understand what this board (and the many others that are like it) is for and I've been making contributions. You speak as if all I've been doing is brag about my accomplishments, ignoring those who ask for assistance. I've had people PM me and I've responded with (accurate) information. Nevertheless, you don't know me and I don't know you. So let's cut the "let's judge Kuya" act. You know, if you lived here in the states, I'm sure you would have a totally different outlook on this miniscule debate, considering that the 205 was never released here to the states.. But since you don't, I can understand why you think the way you do. I can respect that, your personality, and you as a person since attitudes are influenced by culture, society, and simply where you live. However, I would like to know if YOU can respect why I (along with many others) have this type of attitude towards withholding CERTAIN (not ALL) information? If not, you have a lot to learn in life.

Well when you guys say that as of right now you are the only 2 people with curren tailights on a celica coupe I think you are wrong. Not to be mean, or say im a pro at cars or anything, but think about it.. of all the celicas in the US I honestly think there are more then 2 of you who have slapped some curren taillughts on your car.

my .02 cents.

p.s. kuya has answered many a questions on this board, many of which have helped me. I believe he has every right to keep his ideas to himself. Its not like hes on the board being useless, hes spreading his knowledge of cars, just not his own personal ideas.

The numbers will be posted eventually. Hell I talked to a curren owner today and found out that the ZS curren and TRD model were the only ones that came with the nice tail lights.

The numbers will be posted eventually, so why keep fussing with eachother?

If people say they won't post up the numbers. Well, then you give your opinion and go on your way. I would love to have those numbers personally. and I have said that many times. Going around calling names and crap isn't going to help us find the numbers. Sure it'd be hella easier if one of the people on here would post them up, but it's obviously not going to happen. SO, go search the web for 96-98 Curren ZS and TRD model owners, and ask them to do you a favor.

My $.02

Kuya dude I don't think you even read my post. I didn't say anything offensive to you!

I was saying that since you created your own stuff, I think its ok for you to not show it off if you don't want to. Read what I wrote again - the whole post was aimed at Supersprynt not you mate. Btw. The 205 Wasn't released in Australia either.

Actually I lie - there were 88 of them released in '95 I think. I think there are only about 20 left.

My bad mate. It just sounded like you were pointing at me because you mentioned me twice and it sounded like you were responding to certain issues that I brought up. My apologies for misunderstanding...

mahahaha well im hardly an expert ;-)

but its good that they're on all models, means theres way more tails out there than if it was limited to just ZS and TRD models.
one of my favourite models is the JDM Celica convertible with 3SGE with the nice Curren tails and red or black paint... they look so damn good and not many around either

Jon

OK.. here's the story with my avatar...

I'm really big on Aliens. wink.gif So back when I used to play Quake 2, I discovered a model known as "Invader". The character in my avatar is the Stealth Invader, which I thought was really awesome not only because it's an alien, but also because it wore that tite black robe with the letter "R" on the back. Now since my name is Ray, I felt that the model suited me perfectly.

biggrin.gif

So that's my story and it's too bad that they never made that model for Quake 3, which I play religiously.
