As you all have heard how strict california smog rules are..

well look at this:

"Remote Sensing Devices (RSDs)

Remote Sensing Devices, positioned on major thoroughfares throughout California, use an infrared beam to measure and record the exhaust emissions of moving vehicles. At the same time, a high-speed video camera takes photographs of passing vehicles, including license plate numbers. When a vehicle is identified for excessive emissions, the motorist may be sent a notice instructing him or her to take the vehicle in for a confirmation test at a Test-Only/Referee Center. If the RSD data are confirmed, the vehicle must be repaired and the emissions brought below the Gross Polluter threshold."

this means, if you passed the smog test and they get a picture of your car smoking. They can force you to retake the test.

I give up moding the celica. it stays stock forever! mad.gif

Well, sorry to break it to you, but the environment is priority...unless you don't want to help people breathe better.

smog is cause by some gases release to the atmosphere

well people with turbo kits installed, can take off their kits and pass smog. then re-install it. Think about much of a hassle it would be to remove and install the turbo every month?

I think he means, he will worry about smog when he starts having breathing problem symptom. If he can breath fine, then he will not worry about smog.

you can register our cars somewhere else, but i believe there is a rule where you must transfer the car to california registration with in a couple year.

We have to get our cars checked every year (Dutch MOT) also with a smog test. But its not that hard as yours in Cali I think. Some people here use a SAFCII to lean out there mixture just to pass smog.
