So 2 of my 4 spark plug wires aren't going fully in. As in, they don't sit totally flushed with the head. Here's what I mean:

Any ideas why? Do I need to just take it all the way out and then put it back? Is there something wrong with my spark plugs/wires? Thanks for the input.

probably blowby..aka your valves are sticking open. Or your plugs arent tightened in fully. I had the same problem. Also check to see if you have any oil in your sparkplug tube, It could be the valve cover tube seals.

edit: whats the milage on the car?/how hard do you beat on it?

Mileage ≈ 115k

I don't beat on it hardly at all anymore, not since I got my new motor (which was about 6 months ago). How do I check to see if there's oil in my sparkplug tube?

Pull your plug wire off. If there's oil in the plug well, there's your answer biggrin.gif

I had this problem once when I fouled my wires by very intelligently pressure washing my engine and letting water get into the plug well. My #3 wire would just pop itself right back out, even with the engine off. I don't know what caused this, but a new set of wires worked fine. Also, if you haven't changed your wires in awhile you may want to check the contact in the one that's giving you trouble. If it looks damaged, or if it won't "pop" back onto the plug when you put it in, it's time for a new wireset. Other than that, try the above mentioned. Make sure plugs are tight (get them hand tight with an extension and socket, then give a ¼ turn with a ratchet).
