Where's Coomer's response on this? I want to know if he's really serious about getting rid of the Celi to get a Del Sol.

some funny replies. Like, "honda styling" ??? (weirdo)

dude, i can't believe you're going the honda route, no offence to anyone, but i will never buy a honda, ever, they're everywhere. They only honda that might change my mind is the NSX or the S2K. I would have to say getting a del SLOW is a downgrade from your celica. If you want 2 seater, heck get an mr-2. RWD > FWD.

there is nothing wrong with honda tec, I'm on there also.

And there is nothing wrong with getting honda's. I personally think they make great cars for what poeple use them for.

the only comment that got to me on the honda tec thread was how they dont like the 6th gens body styling.

I personally think our cars have the best timeless body style ever. I cant image anyone not liking it.

Wow, it's a small world, lol.

Well, to clear things up, I've thought long and hard about this, and I think I am going to sell the car. I did what I really wanted to do; I built a really nice Celica. It's one of a kind, and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

That said, I think it's time for me to move on. For one, I rarely drive it. In the last two years, I've put maybe 7-8,000 miles on the car. I keep it garaged at home most of the time and don't drive it much at all, even though it's a blast to drive.

Second, I graduated and I'm moving away. I'm sure I won't have a garage where I'm going (at least at first), and this car really deserves a garage and a nice place to wash it and keep it clean.

Third, I'm just plain tired of building/having the same car. I've had the car for five years and ten months. And I want something new. Yesterday I sold my G20, and with that money and the money I'd make selling the Celica, I could start a new project.

Yes, I want a Del Sol. I've actually got my eyes on a H2B Del Sol. I also kind of want an EF Civic. And I kind of want a '99+ G20t. I'm not sure what I'll end up getting, but I know that I want something different.

To be honest with you guys, I'm kind of growing tired of building cars. My real passion is developing websites and web applications, and if I do sell my car, I will keep on running 6GC just like I do now. So there are no worries there. My passion for the Celica has really been gone for quite some time...but lately I've been more passionate about developing 6GC.

So yeah, I think I'm going to sell the Celica. From a car standpoint, it's time to move on. But don't worry, I'll still be here posting on 6GC, hitting up 6GC meets, further developing the site, etc. And who knows...if the right opportunity presents itself, maybe I'll build myself another sixth gen. sometime.

I wish you could of told us yourself, instead of someone haveing to find out on a different site. Its a great thing that you are staying around and going to maintain 6gc. Hope to see some pics of the del sol if you get it, and of course make sure to have the new owner become a member as well.

you guys make it seem like its the end of the world.
if Coomer feels he wants to move on from the celica
(like i haven't thought about it. /sarcasm) we should support him.
though a del sol over a celica seems like a big down grade to me but if your passion is in the del sol then dont let anyone stop you from living it.

i WOULD never trade a Celi for a DelSol - even if the gun would be put to my head - sorry.... DelSol is not a car - really...

Get IS atleast or somthing bigger 4 door and etc.. but dont go down the stares and get DelSol...

G'luck by the way Chris - but IMHO 4K for you celica - is totaly low...

You need a 3sgte under the hood.

If you are planning on moving and not having a garage, a Honda is not the right car for you. As soon as you start fixing up the car you will become a target for theft.

Search the word "theft" on these forums, then search the word on the Honda forums.

Although I have always loved the EG hatch with a k20a. I wouldn't sell my car to build one. I'd build a bigger garage.

Good luck Chris.

Its sad to see that your gonna cell the celi. But great that your staying and keeping 6gc up and running. Really i would never get rid of the celi for a del Sol but thats my opinion. Goodluck with what you choose to get. My buddy have a 00 Civic SI Coupe and i think its fast. But never has as many stairs as i get driving down the street lol.

Sorry to hear your selling the celica, and I have to go with the crowd here, celica>del sol. My friend has a del sol vti (siR for you guys?) and they are ok, but celica is faster, has more seats and looks better! The good thing about his car is the the electric hood (like something out of transformers!).

Saying that, I can see your need for a new project car. Personally, for a cheap honda project car, I would go with an old school CRX biggrin.gif

A member here on 6GC (Daftboy) got his old Honda with a B16 swap stolen in broad daylight.

Not to say that this would happen to you.....but regardless. From my experiences, every friend I've had that has owned a Honda has gotten sick of it really quick.....People will always ridicule you and call you a ricer even if its clean and well-built, idiots will always try to race you everywhere, and thieves and cops alike will instantly target you as being some chump kid.

I try to stay as far away from the title of driving a "kid car" as possible, and unfortunately thats the association with Hondas. Something more low key (EDIT- Read: sexy and sleek, not lame and pedestrian ), luxurious, and powerful is the only step up from the sixth gen in my opinion.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want out of a car, and by all means do what you want and don't let us stop you by complaining. wink.gif But having the foresight to know EXACTLY what it is you want out of a car before you drop a dollar on anything is 90% of the battle, and will probably make life alot easier on you in the long run.

Best of luck with everything. smile.gif

Also, for your move, I can get you reduced price UHaul equipment if needed. I'll say more in a PM.

Coomer -

I stand by you no matter what your decision is with the car :-)

All I ask is that I get to drive it before its sold :-P oh and that you try not to sell it to just anybody. I hate to see cars sold and then beat up by the new owner.

I think its funny you say you might want a new project car, but won't have a garage.. lol.. you sound like me!

I totally understand you. Everyone does it, you build a car and after what you visionned materialise...you want something else! Its an endless loop until you settle for a mid-luxury acura/infinity and leave it stock hehe..

Good luck with any decision you have! But think twice about a honda!

haha isn't that true too. It's human nature to keep wanting more and more.

i'm with everyone else, Hndas are stolen soo much, even if they are pretty much bone stock.

well.... what can i say?....... go with what u want which is a del sol.... i agree with many people here. To me personally civics, del sol's, crx are played out bigtime! but they are easy to fix up and parts for them are abundunt so if u wanna roll in a ricer then go for it. Its what u want not what anybody else wants good luck on ur project coomer. hope to see ur new car soon!!!!

Coomer, Coomer, Coomer....

I'm just really still more upset that you stole my mohawk idea more than you are selling the car. The only other thing I will say while looking for a job or place to move, you should move to the seattle area so you can save me from these girls (you know which two I'm talking about) at times.

Hell, for 4k I'd buy it if you kept it a few months. Just do what I did.... Keep the celi and get a project car and make the celi ur DD. Esp. if you're moving, you mightt have better luck in a safer neighborhood with the yellow celica. For me personally, I've put too much time and effort into the celica to ever sell it. Plus the couple grand I would get out of it isn't worth it compared to all the stuff I put into it.

Del Sol is not the fastest / best looking car in the world, but any car can be made FAST and the looks can be improve with good taste, so go ahead get a Del Sol and enjoy it, after all life is one and we should make the best of it.

Good luck on your Job search Coomer.

I dunno, I'm forever sticking with Toyota, the only way I get a new 2 door is a late model Supra or an IS300. Besides that, I am looking for a 4 Door Tacoma or Tundra. Something that can be used for almost everything.

All of the wires and fuse box and relay and battery are all tucked away and hidden.

engine bay = tits?!?!?!?

Bunch of weirdos at the Honda forum...

Tits when of course not referring to the female breasts/mammary glands. Would be the equivalent as to "thats boss", "thats the ****" and what not. According to urbandictionary.com "Tits 531 up, 193 down. Awesome, amazing, stellar, crazy, unbelievable, awe-inspiring, overwhelming, mind blowing, shocking, majestic magnificent, impressive, cool, grand, stupefying, wonderful NOTE:The word 'tits' can replace any of these words in normal speech. Chya!"

Don't worry, the Yelli Celi is staying in the 6GC family. Its not going anywhere we wouldn't want it to go.

The Yelli Celi made it over the pass and home to Enumclaw this afternoon. We stopped along the way for some pictures that I will upload later... as I am on dial-up right now.

My girlfriend, my friend Rob, and myself all crammed into my hatchback and went over there today and met up with Coomer. I took it for a spin.. LOVED IT... and then came back and we got all the paperwork filled out...

Then Rob (my friend) mentioned how he was looking at some traklites on craigslist and he was trying to contact the guy with them.... turned out Coomer knew the guy, called him up, and he was there in about 5 minutes. So Rob went and bought some rims and loaded them up in the black Celi and we headed to the gas station (after a brief stop at the local Pita Pit). I filled up the Yelli Celi with delicious 92oc and headed for home. To my suprise we got all the way home (115 miles) and I had barely gone below the Full line... this was with an average speed of 80mph over the pass.

There are a few things that I will address in the morning with her, but do not worry 6GC, I'm not going to be making many changes to her. I'm going to try and get the exhaust patched up on Monday and I'm going to clean up the power steering/AC stuff. I NEED to get those back on, because the stiff suspension and no power steering is a pain on slow turns. I'm going to try and match the power steering and all that good stuff to the current color/ theme of the engine bay to keep it as nice as possible thumbsup.gif

what else....

ITB's are nice smile.gif

Like I said before.. I'm not changing much on it. A new exhaust system for her, re-add power steering, and run a bit more braided lines under the hood ( and coomer if you can send me the link for the braided line we were talking about I would appreciate it. thumbsup.gif

All in all. I am very happy with the new addition to my Celica family. She has a good home here. She's currently tucked away in my garage.

Glad the car made it home fine and glad you're happy with it. smile.gif

Does the car have an exhaust leak? I always thought the exhaust sounds were because of the ITBs.

I'll send you a PM shortly with the link to those lines and stuff.

I'm thinking it does. I believe 95% of the tone and loudness of the exhaust is ITB, but I have a feeling there is a hole right about midway back. I am going to see if my exhaust shop can take a peek at it and see whats going on. Maybe I'm just crazy. In that case I'll have them throw a nice resonator onto it to try and quiet it up a little. Yellow and loud does not blend in easily tongue.gif

A sad day in 6GC history. I hope you have fun with the car and keep it in the shape its in (or even better mechanicly speaking), but from the looks of it, it went to the right owner.

So will the website be sold to another 6gc'er? Will we have a new king mod or will Coomer stick around?

I believe it is just a Grant steering wheel. It has no badging other than a flag near the bottom.
