hey hows it going guys? i just ordered Tein S-Tech springs and was wondering if I should change my shocks? my cars at 179,xxx miles right now and it's on the stock springs my 95 celica gt came with. i heard that if we use KYB GR-2 shocks on our cars the front shocks wont fit. why is that? and what part will I need to make it fit? where can I get that part/parts to make it fit? how much will it cost for the parts? thanks to whoever replies in advance

you probably should get new ones, if you dont do alot of driving and are on a tight budget you can get by without replacing them, its a good idea to replace them all at one, as far as pricing, i havent done much looking online, there a performace shop around me that is giving me some hook ups and a fabricator whos helpin make some new arms etc..

from what ive seen 180 for the springs n about 210 for the shocks seems to be the best - legit - deal

yeah thats what i heard but i also saw a post on here. a guy on this forum bought the kyb gr-2's from eBay. same part number. he even confirmed it with KYB. its something like if you have the GT Sport Suspension that it wont fit. why is that? and how do i know if i have the GT Sport Suspension? I have a 1995 Celica GT. and IF i do have the gt sport suspension, can i do anything to make the kyb gr-2's fit? or should i just get OEM ones from toyota?

I think those are part numbers for KYB sealed front shocks, not Toyota parts.

go to ajusa.com and compare prices with other web sites, when I got my KYBs that was the cheapest i could find

Or even heard of the brand in comparison to the Tein SS Damper-kit??? kindasad.gif

says:
Ksport Kontrol Pro
Toyota Celica (AT100/ST202) 94-99/Part #CTY050-KP/MSRP $1300
Ksport Kontrol Pro Fully Adjustable Coilover Kits provide the ultimate in suspension technology for your street or track car. 36 levels of dampening adjustment allow you to fine tune the ride to your handling and comfort needs. The dampening adjusts compression and rebound simultaneously for ease of adjustment. Pillow ball top mounts in the front and rear on some applications allow you to maintain vehicle manufacturer suspension geometry design. The pillow ball top mounts also allow you a more direct feel for solid driver response. Camber adjustability is included on pillow ball top mounts that allow it for the ability to adjust camber from the actual coilover, instead of a separate camber kit.

Most applications utilize an adjustable lower mount, which means you adjust height without losing suspension travel like some other coilover designs do. With the mounts and most pieces of the coilover being designed for 6061 billet aluminum the kit is lightweight, durable, and rust resistant. The steel shock body is electroplated with zinc to resist rust and the elements. The valving of each set is matched to the springs installed for unmatched ride quality and reliability.
The Ksport system uses a Monotube design in which the oil and gas are separated within the cylinder. When compared to twin tube designs the Monotube dissipates heat better, allows finer dampening adjustments, and requires more expensive design process. Aeration and cavatation are a lot less common in a Monotube design, which results in a better ride.

The Ksport Kontrol Pro Coilover kit has been designed with professional road racing in mind offering extremely high value and performance.
Key Features:

# 36-way adjustable dampening
# Made from high quality 6061 Aluminum with T6 for increased hardness
# Compression/Rebound adjustable
# Adjustable spring perch for height adjustment
# Adjustable body allowing maximum suspension travel
# Pillow Ball Top Mount w/ adjustable camber (not available for some models)
# Monotube High Pressure Design reduces oil leakage
# Electroplated body for protection from corrosion and rust
# One Year Limited Warranty

yes, the dealer will know when they check your vin number. if you take your suspension apart you'll see that the front is a sealed shock instead of an sleeve with a strut like most people, if you have sealed shocks on front is sport susp. if it's a sleeve is regular.

Interesting. Anyone know the difference between these springs and which is best?

48131-2t140 frt spring
48131-2s740 frt spring - (305x156x177mm)

They are both for 6th gen Celicas with front sealed struts part numbers quoted by soven. The first is for a UK SR/ST with sports pack, the other is for the UK GT.

just buy the full strut from kyb, price is practically the same as an insert and you dont deal with the hassle of inserts unless you upgrade to bilsteins

There's some pretty cheap Tein springs up on eBay, but I'm hesitant to buy because there's been plenty of fake springs sold on there. The few I've looked at look legit according to Tein's website...Has anybody bought Teins off eBay and have had a good experience? Any recommended sellers?

Those are the guys on eBay, $116 for springs sounds too good to be true:

Did you compare the springs and the box with the notice Tein has up on their website? Does it match the real ones?

yea i found the company through bizrate.com so i was skeptical, but they got their policies laid out there, and paypal certified them so i went for it. They were $140 shipped. I kno i got exactly what's pictured, even the stickers biggrin.gif , and they were at my door in like 4 days! it was nuts!
I picked them over pretty well before throwing them on the shocks, i remember there were no stickers on springs, the text was printed on, but i hadnt seen TIEN's msg then.
I'll repost with final judgment..

$114 from high performance outlet is the best deal you are going to find on legit, brand new springs wink.gif

I'm having some problems with this company. I'd suggest everyone else holds off until I get a sucessful resolution and update this thread.
