whats the best way to prevent that gunk that forms around teh terminals.. how to clean it

To prevent corrosion around the battery terminals use petroleum grease just apply it on the terminals should do the trick. To clean use battery brush or tooth brush with water and baking soda or use a can of coke lol

there are also these things they sell at autozone and napa, its petro grease just with factory name and some other ****....i used it, and its ok i guess, for .99$ it did the job

they sell these cool 3 pronged ones, they are very usefull if you have to connect things directly into your battery like a sub
