Hey guys. i see a lot of us are from the east coast, from maine all the way down to Florida.

I was wondering if we could set up a meet in either NC, VA, or MD. If we get enough people I think its definitly do-able.

So, let me know if you guys wanna set something up, and we'll get it started!

lol Yeah, well if you'd like to make the drive, then we can figure something out. And it doesn't really have to be in VA, there isn't to much around where i live. There might be some places around MD or somewhere around there that is actually interesting. lol

Okay so. This would be plausible IF we could get like. 30 cars there. Because I would travel 8 hours for a kick ass, all 6th gen meet.

But no one should be selfish, and should consider us southern folk.

So mid east coast, like Virginia would be the best bet.

But everyone here would probably whine about it, so yeah. Probably won't work out. =(

jen, we've had ~30+ cars at the last 2 csp meets, and thats just the upper NE people,
i think if it were properlly planned, we could easily get 50+ 6gcs together for a huge EC6GC meet.
of course, this would have to be a spring/summer meet, noone is gonna wanna plan on driving any distance with winter weather right around the corner for a lot of us.
it'd prolly be a good idea to start gathering thoughs on where and when to have it now tho, and start getting all the details worked out, so that everyone could have pleanty of time to plan.
that said, we'd be down for a MAJOR East Coast 6gc meet at some point in the spring/summer '08, i dont know much about where we could have it, i would imagine the best thing to do would be to figure out how far we'd be having to have people travel, and locate the meet somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, we don't have that kind of luxury of having huge meets here, no one really shows up anyhow. =( Totally sucky.

Probably next summer would be best, because people would be out of school and it would be more convienent.

It would have to be an all weekend event too, to make it worth it to those who are traveling from afar. But, I'm down for sure.

Yeah, VA was my original idea. in Southern VA there isn't really to much to do around here, but i'm sure somewhere in Mid-VA like Richmond or somewhere around there would be hella awesome!

And I think it could be a really large EC6GC Meet. I think it could be easily 80+ members doin our thing. If it is around summer, we could go to Kings Dominion (a theme park in Richmond).

What do you guys usually do at these meets, i've never been to one..

i know you are in VA there are a few of us old school 6gc members up in NOVA. If you want to come up to DC i'm sure I could piece some things together.

I'm already having a pretty large get together on 10/27 for some BBQ, cars and fun...fun includes a haunted house/ Haunted field and much more scary stuff smile.gif

I think Maryland would be way too far for us in the south. Just thought I'd put that out there. I'm hoping for Virginia since I used to drive there all of the time, and it's not so bad.

Last time I expirienced a East Coast Meet was a few years back, When I first started to drive, hehe Supra Meet, We had people from FL to NY Coming in. Plenty of them drove, although the majority of the people came from NC, VA, MD, DC we had a turn out of maybe 200+ Cars. The last one wasn't as great IMO, It was a TLS Expo, Everything from Toyota, Scion, and Lexus, we Had it as a charity event for CHKD. We had no clue how many but 100s of Scions showed up thanks to the widely popular 7CityScion, and maybe 200-250 of every Toyota and Lexus.

-Would this be a 6GC Meet or Would there be contact to other types of cars as well. Something like the Chino Meet in Cali, Primary cars are 7GC but every other Celica and such were welcome to join.

-IF Virginia, Somewhere from Central to Southeast VA would be the best spot. I can help with area contact if it will be located in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. I know of a few places that have a great atmosphere, parking, and available grills [Whats a meet without food!?]
Maybe Celicav would be able to help me with this since he lives close by....

the area is Fairfax, Purple lives here too along with Drocay...and slipgun and coustoe who aren't on the forums anymore

the haunted house can be found here
http://www.screams.org/

its in Olney, MD....approx. 30 min from DC and 45 min from fairfax.
depending on how things go the BBQ/photoshoot will either be in Fairfax,va or Clinton, MD
both are right outside DC and great areas.

Yeah, I was just thinking about Virginia Beach, that would be a great spot, right near the beach too, so that way we can get a LOT of females to come that are just walkin along the beach and that sort of stuff.

I'm not to familiar with that area, but i'll be makin a trip out there sometime next summer so I can help scout out what there is to do around there.

I'm excited, I can't wait for this meet.

I think it should just be celica owners period, regardless of whether its 6g or what, all celicas I think should be welcome. But I think it could mostly be sponsored by 6GC. It should be just an east coast celica meet n greet. Another site thats pretty big with Celica's, just the 7GC's is TeamCelica.com We could also advertise on there a few months before the event so we can get some new celica owners there as well!

I think its going to be HUGE!

I'm in, pending a large turn out. The meet should be the event. What I mean by that is, we should find a nice place to hold a meet. Meeting somewhere and going to do something else doesn't work to well.

It takes away from what we drove there for. So be on the look out for a meeting spot that can support 80 + cars.

You guys would prefer it near the beach if it is located in Virginia Beach? We had a cruise there with the Supras, definitely alot of looks, especially with a stock 81 Starlet leading the pack. We can always have the meet start in maybe a park, then a cruise can be intiated from there. Mount Trashmore. A park that has plenty of parking and cookout locations. Many meets have been set up there, most recent was a DC4 Meet..

For an All Celica Meet, Best contact locations would be NewCelica, Celicatech, AllGenCelica, im pretty sure im forgetting a few.

Mount Trashmore Park is 165 acres. The mountain is 60 ft. high and over 800 ft. long, and was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. The park is open from 7:30am to sunset. Facilities include four large and many small picnic shelters, playground areas, a basketball court, four volleyball areas, parking, a walking trail, vending machines, and restrooms. The park is open from 7:30am to sunset.
The park features two lakes, Lake Windsor located along South Blvd, is brackish water fed by Thalia Creek. Fishing is allowed. Lake Trashmore located along Edwin Dr, is freshwater and is stocked with fish. No private boats are allowed on this lake, but fishing is allowed.

I'll try to locate a few other parks that might be able to accomidate a meet.

Yeah, i'm definitly excited about this meet.

Another celica website we can advertise is TeamCelica.com Most celica owners on that site are the new celica's, the girly ones..but a lot of 'em still look wicked good.

by then my celica should have body work done to it, along with the engine swap and all that good jazz!

We could start at one of the parks, then have, what we in the military call a , convoy of celica owners ride down the strip! lol That would be so frickin awesome!

Why not try and see if their are any tracks nearby that would allow us to do some drag racing?
Would anyone be up for that?

The only way I'm up for any type of racing that far way from home, is if I trailer the Celica down there. But I'd rather drive it down for the meet. I think a huge meet and greet would be best, If we have enough people. Just getting to know each other would take up the whole day. Talking 50 plus cars here.

Track meets are hard to do due to the fact that a very very few will run their vehicles.. a meet like this should be easy on the cars due to the long drives that people will do.

I'd definitly be up for some drag racing, or just racing period. I know there is a raceway not to far away, but its pretty good ways away from VA Beach, its South Boston Speedway. They race stocked cars there. Its a decent track, but doubt we could get it. I'm sure we could find some place near VA Beach

Personally I wouldn't race mine. I just bought it and its still stock, and even worse, an auto trans. I just figured some would like to show off their engine mods. Yeah, that is a long way to drive for some of us, and racing it would be asking for trouble, but just thought I'd throw that out there. However if there is a road course I would definately run it there, just to test the limits.

Completely forgot about VIR....hmm...that would be do-able. lol My dad has sold some cars to the guys that work there and help run it. So I'll ask him about it and see if he can get me some numbers to call so I can talk to some people.

Hey guys - just a brief update!

My dad gave me a number of someone to contact if we would like to try and get VIR for a day.

I contacted the person to see if it'd cost anything (since we'll probably make it a charity event and donate any bit of money we get to a charity foundation) , and also what we would all have access to. He told me about the price, we'd have to wait to see if it would cost anything since we would donate to a charity fund. And about the racing they said we could have access to the ENTIRE track...which you know what that means, RACE TIME BABY!

Woot for Dad huh? lol

I'll keep you updated on the VIR situation. If anyone else cares to try and work on some of the other stuff we could do that would be awesome.

What do you guys also think about a $20 per car charge? I think its a small tole for all the fun.

Open car racing? Hmm tempting.. the spyder is always ready for some fun...

But 20 per car? that seems very very very very cheap somewhat unrealistic..

Personally Id say things should be figured out a bit more before any kind of track/price is even discussed. Alot of people seem to be fine with a meet and greet also. Keep in mind this is something being planed for the 08 summer/fall with the intent of getting ALOT of members grouped for one huge EC meet. Alot of members are going to be driving hundreds and even possibly thousands of miles just to make the meet. Im not sure how many of them would want to put their car under that much more stress of a track enviroment.

Well a lot of people mentioned that they wanted to race and drag - so I got some strings pulled.

I figure the $20 per car can be used for the food for the HUGE cookout, and charity.

I figured that a hotel around there could give us a good discount since we would have so many people.

But VIR is just an option, I called to just see what we would be able to do. So it could be open for us if we want it, just depends if people want it.

LOL if you think you are getting onto VIR for $20 you are crazy

track days are well over $150.
you DO NOT just get to go on and run around
there is CLASS time, instructors that go in the car with you, strict rules and regulations to run and Safety crew. Your car has to pass a tech inspection, which includes going to a mechanic and having them certify your car before you ever get to the track, changing of brake fluid and many other things.
here is just one of the common forms for inspection
http://www.carguys.com/policies/2003tech.pdf

also considering its booked straight for every weekend this year laugh.gif

If you wanted to set a track day up for NEXT year and join in on one already scheduled you could do that. But you are paying +150 easy

now dragstrip is $25 and you can just drive up and run, which is MUCH different and more relaxed than VIR.

Well, thats what I heard when I spoke to a spokes person with VIR , but if there is a drag strip around VA beach, i'd be more then happy to do that instead. It'd be a lot easier to get that.

No strip in Virginia Beach. A simple meet and greet would be fine for most.. the "racing" will only make it more complicated.

Organizing a meet is complicated enough.. so lets get serious?

----------
Options:
+ Park Meet - Many locations, Cookout, Park, Great Atmosphere, Easy Parking
+ Skyline Drive - Great scenic location, great for cruising [SPEED LIMIT] Picnic locations, Closer to main group of 6GC [AKA NE Group and DC/MD Vets]
+ Shop Meet - Available dyno on site, minimum parking, swarmed by other cars, Possible raffle for car stuff....

IMO a simple meet and greet in a Park is the best. To raise money, we can have a charity jar, Meet shirts and procedes go to the charity, and/or raffles.

A large meet like this would most likly be a 2 day event so maybe a camp ground close to a nice cruising road? Simple meet and greet for the first day is nice, also like the charity jar and Tee shirt idea.

An event that includes multiple states usually has a 2 Day setup

EX:
Saturday Afternoon - Main Meet in [Location] Meet and Greet
Saturday Dusk - Cruise toward a restaurant or food of choice..
Saturday Night - Food! then another activity
Sunday Morning - Breakfast Meet
Sunday Afternoon - Get together with the rest of the people that stayed before everyone departs.

Something like this would happen....

I'll try to locate some camp sites nearby, pretty sure theres a few tho.

Sorry, but I have been away from the boards for a while. YES, I am definitely down for a meet in Northern VA or Southeast (Va Beach) VA. I live in Chesapeake, right next to Va Beach, as JDG371 knows, so since I made it to the Colt State Park meet, it would be great to see those from the Northeast part of the country make the long haul down here. Sweet!

+1 for camping in Skyland/Luray Va.

Have had meets up there before with S2KI and camped with my wife and friends several times, would be a good spot.

Skyline Drive is not tolerant of speeders though so racing through at 60+ will get you in a lot of trouble.

Will be selling my S2000 and getting a gen6 next spring so I don't know what car I'll have.

Well, word now is that i'm moving to greensboro, NC, so VA Beach is going to be even longer then it was orginally going to be driving from Danville. lol

Oh well, I can't wait to do this meet. Hopefully my car will be looking better then it is now. can't wait to see what everyone else has.

Incase your a bit confused, Im fairly certin the meet location hasnt been decided and I believe there are a bunch of people against the beach theme. Im just putting this out there because it seems like alot of your posts about this have Va Beach as your assumed location.

Lol

Anywhere in the mid works for me. Location might be a better second poll after we fingure out who is comming from where and then can decide what the middle would be. So copy and paste the list.

Middle of the WHOLE east coast would be the MD/VA/DC area.

BTW, First figuring out the location would be more suitable, this way people can figure out if they are still up for it.

I'm definitely down for coming, where ever it may be. ROADTRIP lol..... but on another note, what exactly are we looking for in a location? Plenty of space for parking, a few things to do/relax, pretty area, possibilty of a drag strip for those that want to wander off for that, fun roads, and a good time doing a meet and greet/charity with each other. What about the Westmoreland County or Rappohanack River area of VA? I used to live there, its kind of country but the park has camping facilities plus the beach. There are scenic roads there. You don't have to worry too much about cops, most of em I should know and if not then people I know will know them so that wouldn't be too much of an issue. There is a local dragstrip that they only use once every couple weeks or so, so getting in and having it cheap for those that wanted to wouldn't be a problem. But its just an idea, I'm down for whatever, any place.

I've never been to any 6gc meets and I would love to go to one, especially if there were a crap-load of celis to show. In order for me to plan on going there needs to be a specific place settled on.

So, if you are extremely seriouse about trying to go we need you to put your name(screen-name) and location so we can get a good idea of a center location to meet!
