if u use a v6 trans i think ull have to use a different axle set up as the v6 camry auto trans probably has the same spline count as the e153 manual trans.

i would say u could use a v6 trans for these reason.

e153 can bolt up to the v6 in the solara/camary and to the 5s and 3s blocks

thus if an auto v6 trans from a solara/camary are made to bolt up to a v6 block of the same model then the trans should be able to bolt up to a 5s or 3s......

the next real question is will the input shaft have the right spline count and size for the 5s???? not sure how all that looks

will the 5s auto trans not hold down the power????

U140E (transmission number)
2002-2004 Camry (V6)
does that sound right

don't forget about control. The 5S ECU probably can't control a V6 auto, if you get the solenoids/sensors retrofitted it will be completely lost. The power band of a V6 is not comparable and you will probably have major drivability issues. Seems more trouble than it's worth... on second thought, if you're going through all that trouble, might as well stick a V6 in there and run everything with the right ECU. That is of course, if the auto fits, mounts and axles, etc...

Don't get me wrong, I would like to see something like this. It would be great for 5SFTE's or other crazy hybrids.
