Maybe toyota should think of a way where this would actually come in handy? Ok, from the videos and the reviews, it looks great. But actually using this system is really....flawed. Here's why. I played around with this system a few months ago when I got bored and wanted to play with the LS460 in the middle of the night. Well the self parking takes a few seconds to even set up. You first have to stop the car and put it in reverse. But it has to be in the right spot, or the system will refuse to confirm the parking spot. You have to click the screen a few times to get the parking spot locked on correctly. Probably a good 20-30 seconds to set it all up. Then make sure the wheel is pointing straight forward! It will yell at you if it's not haha. You have to keep your foot lightly on the brake at all times. If not, the car will go "too fast" and guess what? The car doesn't slow down, it just says "parking assist aborted" Which means the car will still continue to move, but your on you own now buddy. And now you get to go through the entire set up process again. I would say it would take a total of 1 minute for the car to actually "park itself". But probably a total of 10 seconds or less for YOU to park it yourself. 1 minute is a long time in the "real world" People will be honking at you and will probably steal your parking spot by that time your lexus shows you how to drive.

yes i agree, and theres a few other flaws.. but the concept is awsome, and those rich people in cities can actaully park their car correctly... I saw how retarded it was and you have to press the arrows... but still pretty nifty idea

imo its for the lazy people. Or someone who didn't pass their license test. Its just a waste of time to have to be in the right position and having to set things up.

The Lexus LS is really an amazing car all around, but the price tag for it is fairly high for a car of it's performance in my opinion. The luxury aspect of it is amazing, and I find the touchscreen navigation far superior to those of it's competitors of BMW and Mercades. But I find it lacking in the power department. It shifts very smoothly with it's 8 speed automatic transmission, and the turning on that car is amazing in comparison to it's size. The 460L/600hL is a long vehicle, but I find it surprisingly easy to manuver around corners and parking spaces. The LS is not a car to be driven, but to be driven in. With availible massage/reclineable seats in the rear, along with separate climate controls and window shades that go up and down with the push of a button, it's a great car to be sitting in when your going on a trip. The new LS600hL is a nicer car with a few upgrades, but in my opinion, all the benefits of the LS600hL do not justify the extra $50,000 more over the LS460. Even with it being a hybrid, it still only produces a difference of 2-3mpg city. I remember one LS460 coming in that had already been modified. It had a full body kit, vented fenders, rims, lip spoiler, exhaust and custom foglights. It looked almost factory like that, the entire car was done very professionally, however, it still made me cringe at the thought of somebody dismantling a $80,000 vehicle in exchange for fiberglass panels. Also, It made me wonder, "wow now some people really DO have way too much money".

That car takes forever to setup! We had one in the lot, and I took it for a test. Can't park on very very small inclined ground or anything slope. You need to be in perfectly flat ground. Second setting up just like maskedman said is a PITA, it takes forever. It told me I was going to fast.. lol.
Its fun to have, its crap to use.. |

That one is soo useless because you have to have the rear of the car already angled towards the spot, and then you can start the set up. It's very... redundant because well... you have a back up camera. So I don't really see why there would be a need for self parking when you can see everything already haha. -------------------- |

Seriously, if you have enough money to buy an LS460 with the parallel parking option, are you really ever going to park on the street? Especially in a spot which is difficult to park in? Nope, you get your personal driver to do it for you haha. Now as for a useful function with Lexus. The smart key. This is the greatest invention in the world, which I someday wish to incorporate into my 6gc haha. UV protective glass, eh, dual climate control, meh, water sensing windshield wipers, no thank you. I will stick with just the smart key please
