ok, since ive been surfing this Forum ive been looking at everyones pictures and mods theyve done the their Celi. and i have to know how you guys do it. im not talking about how machanically,i mean funding and time. I mean i have somethings that keep me from being about to spend a lot of money to mod my car, my daughter and my wife eat my money up pretty well, bills and what have you but i know im not the only one here that has responsibilities like these. If you saw my Celi you would cry, im just now able to afford a EGR valve and a new Brights head light assembly that im hopping will allow it to pass inspection. and dont get me wrong, i love my car and would work on it ........most of the day if i could, but some of the things you guys have done are crazy.
im not looking for advice, and im not bashing you all either, hell more power to yah Im just wondering how you all did it, and how much time it took for you to get to where your at now. |

Easy answer. Not many of us have what you have; meaning a wife and daughter. The fact that you have a daughter is enough to drain the money out of your pockets but thats still cool that u got all that. Im not saying thats a bad thing cuz I'd be more worried if you had a daughter and was spending all the money on the Celica to tell you the truth. Most people here are still in school and live at home and dont have too many expenses. -------------------- Note to new members. Discussions such as the ones below are forbidden.

Real Simple:
1: No Girlfriend ATM! 2: I still live with my parents with no running costs (food/electrical bill etc etc) 3: My (only) interests are the Celica and Computers (which also earns a bit of money cash-in-hand) 4: I'm (at least I think I'm) very good with handling money. No rush actions to buy something the moment I see it. 5: I work Full Time and lots of overtime . -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

I sell my ass on the streets..... j/k. I wonder the same thing, but I've learned that it takes time and lots of searching. You don't want to get working on the celica anyway, because you'll catch the mod bug and end up wanting to do a lot the the celica.

I doubt you are going to get a lot of people posting that their parents give them everything, they live at home and are spoiled. They are out there, but that should be expected.
I think having a family to spend money on is a more worthwhile investment than a car that will keep depreciating over time ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

some people don't have as many responsabilities as you do, but some others do, it's insane to dump a whole paycheck in a car even if you don't need the money for anything else, most people here have built their cars over the years, is not a 2 months process, you just need to know what you wanna do to the car and what parts you need to acomplish that, then start buying stuff one thing at the time. Being patient is the key, cars is an expensive hobbie and is the wosrt wasted money ever, you don't get back the money you put on cars, but we sure have fun

A lot of the people on here have had their Celicas for YEARS! I've only had mine for a few months, and I thought when i first bought it that I was going to put mod after mod after mod into it. but after the first few mods, I began to truly realize how expensive it is, and how much time it requires. So now i'm just putting little by little into it. It'll take a few years to get it where I want it, but once i get it there it'll make it all worth it! -------------------- |

How I did it? Hmm..a whole year in Iraq and total of 18 months serving active Army NG status=bling bling. Not the whole thing went into the celi though. It only happened because wife called that the car's engine was broken, which fueled my passion of restoring the celica and putting in another engine

also not to mention buying used / discount parts is also a good way. ill be selling the following in the next week or so just let me know if you want them. ill let them go for very cheap. Its not like a house where if you add something new to it the value goes up or whatnot. Putting so much money into a car really isn't worth it at all as far as the literal value goes... But the transformation is fun, I'll give it that. That's why I sorta regret doing all the sh*t I did to my car... Dont get me wrong I love it to death, really I do its my baby, but it was an expensive mistake. The kit is a pain in the ass, I cant drive it to certain places, its more trouble then its worth etc... Just costs of mods and everything I've done to get it the way it looks now cost me nearly close to double the amount that I actually paid for the car... Which now that I think about it, is sickening... That money could have gone to something WAY more useful. But ya know, that was when I was younger and didn't really need to think about being strict with my money. Me and Panda are just waiting till she can hold a rench. I realize the time it takes for a car, and believe me, to me thats the best part about cars. Time i have, money will come here and there. But i wouldnt say its a waste of money though. If you dont love the car you drive your just like everyone else. I drive 60 miles a day to and from work on i45, i drove a Saturn for a year doing that crap and i really think that part of the dislike i had about my job was the drive. now i love driving to work because its fun. and the more mods i do the more fun it will be and the more pride i will have in the car, the hard work i put into it, and the job that made the money available to me to make my car great. so when you look at it that way its really not a waste. |

Unfortunately I do treat my car as I treat women. Much love, admiration, and affection. And I spend way too much money on them. So I guess my car is my mistress.

I have a black front end mask that says otherwise.... -------------------- "He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends."
"Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn." "What?" "Just do it." ".......He said yes." "Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up." ".......Sweet. Thanks." "No problem." |

QUOTE(playr158 @ Dec 5, 2007 - 10:28 AM) I work the corner of 14th & I in DC...... Im his pimp takin my80%! lol Honestly i got all that done within a year, but i got a loan for it (bad move #1) but for the most part it is all about taking your time and like a child, the beauty of it is watching it grow and manifest itself in what you dreamed it to be. Bad investment yeah, but like you said havoc it makes the drive worthwhile! -------------------- |
