Everybody has a body kit, nice paintjob, awesome looking wheels...and maybe even engine modifications. My question is, is everyone here loaded, or do you sell drugs or something? I mean, I had to take out a LOAN to repaint my car, and now I'm here salivating over new wheels, but no way in hell I'll be able to afford them for a while...and a body kit would be real nice.

one word. OVERTIME. Don't get all flustered cuz you are broke. Most of us who have modified our cars are broke too. smile.gif It just takes time. Get a job if you don't have one. And if you do get as much overtime as you can. Do that until the beginning of summer. Don't buy CD's clothes or anything unessary (i think thats how to spell it) like going out to eat all the time. Save it all for your car. And don't get a paycheck for 400 bucks and buy one seat. Save that money for 3 checks in a row and I know a place where you can get the shogun kit (front and rear bumper, side skirts, and wing) for $1,018 shipped. It's pretty simple once you learn how to save money. Oh and the biggest thing is SHOP AROUND. Don't go for the first deal just cuz it's cheap. You get what you pay for. Remember that. I'm gonna go now cuz I don't want to sound like your dad anymore.

dude dont worry, i havent really done anything to my car because of the money situation. But i plan to and ya know what, it was from those 50 hour weeks at nabisco in the warehouse loading trucks for hours and hours, it all pays off in the end. I figure other than maybe a girl, my car, at my age is the best thing to spend money on, being that i spend so much time in it. So thats it just saving money and not buying stupid stuff all the time.

Im gona say it takes hard work. I bussed my ass to get my car, I worked 40+ hours a week and went to HS. Now I work when I can and save what I get to go towards something. Like this past summer I worked to get my intake and my exhaust put on plus I also got new rims at the end of the summer. Now I got my kit for a good price so now Im saving up for the paint job and what not. But it just takes time ot do stuff to your car. Im doing it in segments. Oh and I wouldn't take out a lona to paint my car and do stuff like that cause what hapens when you get fired or some thing major comes up? I just save my money and spend it wisely. Also my car's gona hate me when I find a steddy girlfriend.

I work at a warehouse filling Grocery Order's for Giant Foods, Finast, Weis Markets and Super Food (and a few others..). I work my ass off 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. I make average about 12-14$/hr, and work as much overtime as I want, its offered. Overtime is time + 1/2, so I usually look at 18$/hr after 40 hours. I get paid EVERY wednesday, so I pull in ranging from 350-500$ paychecks weekly.

Like I everyone said, have to work your ass off. Its not easy filling orders of 300 cases of food when all 300 cases are 50lb dog food and 60lb cat liter, 20lb's of Tomato Sauce and 8 Gallon Boxes of Water. It sucks, but I think about the paycheck every week and what new things I can get done with my car. You want money quick, go warehouse job. Outside the job, you don't even have to think about the job at all.

Just before I bought my Celica I did a real lot of overtime, which was hard work but it was definately worth it. Don't worry about not having the best bodykit or huge rims etc because the gen 6 looks so great even when standard. smile.gif

Work and slave, slave and work, And, do NOTHING for yourself. No clothes, no shoes, no nothing. I eat lunch at McDonalds every day for four bucks. Why there? because it's the cheapest place I can find. Also, if you can find some 60+ year old fat ladies to sell your body to, it works out great. smile.gif

Heh, well, I make just as much money as most of you guys, and I work 35 - 40 a week...but I have credit cards out there, 3 loans, and such...and I'm a compulsive spender. I'm gonna pay off one of my cards tonight though. It'll be a bit better then.

I did what every one else did. Saved and shopped smart. Rich brats don't value what they got. Me, well I'm the guy in the VW commercial tackling a shopping cart thats about to hit my car. Time and effort make everthing you do to your car mean something. After all its your ride.

nicely put.

gotta stretch your money, not just buy the cheap stuff, but spend wisely, cut out compulsive things, that drains you out.

I believe everybody else sayed everything there is to say.I work a full time job,and also work two part time jobs.with these jobs I pay a mortgage and all the things that come with owning a house.after all that I still find money for the one thing I enjoy spending money on and that is my car.the easiest way to sum it up is by saying work like hell and set goals for your self.

If you really want to fix up your car, go ahead and make a list of stuff you want and just start stackin money away for it. I'd probably have already saved up for the Nissan Skyline I'm getting if I would've quit smokin by now...somethings gotta sacrafice. I'm in the USAF and being overseas in Japan I get paid almost double what I would get if I were in the states. Plus I work as a bouncer off base every weekend which brings in an extra $240 a weekend which is all I spend on my car. Good luck man!!!
