Hey guys, I just picked up a 99 Celica GT a few days back. I think it may be having some suspension issues. Whenever i hit a bump in the road or go over anything that's not flat, the front end suspension makes some pretty rough noises - it sounds loose or as if everytime i go over a bump it hits something. The rear end doesn't seem so bad. Also, on the highway, the car seems to sway alot... it feels as if it's really windy out but it never is. I'm not sure if this is a side-effect of the suspension thing, but it seems like it... any ideas?

Could the swaying on the highway be something other than the suspension? I noticed it again today when traveling at like 40mph... could the power steering be reposible for it in some way? it seems that when i go to correct the swaying, it seems to lurch to one side or the other with a very light adjustment of the steering wheel? could the suspension be unrelated to the highway thing???

sometimes, it might be an alignment issue, but if you change any suspension part you would have to recheck it. Before alignment, check for any

1. ball joint issues,
2. Tie rod issues,
3. UNeven tire wear
4. Jack up the car, and try to make wheel vibrate, if too loose, could be a bearing
5. sometimes your car could be ok, and there is pulling this is because of uneven highways.
6. Balancing.

Before trying to dismantle the power steering check the little things, thats what matters.

im not pro here, but based on what i have read on the forum!

I just heard back from my mechanic - it has a torn CV boot AND needs new struts/ springs. great... lol. So I was thinking a set of KYB GR2 struts, but i'm not sure if i want to get lowering springs... would it be pointless to put a new set of stock springs on KYB struts? Also, where would i look for strut mounts?
