I am looking around and planning my to buy my 4age or 4agze and I was wondering if rebuild kits are worth it

I'm not exactly sure where I'd get these parts and at what cost... Also, will the 4age kit work on a 4agze, only difference is supercharger... I cant see that being a problem, but worth asking

Get registered and post a thread on Club4ag. This way it's more guaranteed that you'll get the feedback you want since it is a website based on the 4age engine. And alot of the members there majority have the some type of experience when coming to rebuilds and so forth.

The question of whether a rebuild kit is worth it is something only you can answer for yourself and would depend entirely on what you want out of a motor. If you're asking for an opinion, well, without considering the additional cost and time of rebuilding, it's always a good thing to do, but if time/money is a concern, look over the motor and decide what is and isn't necessary in terms of rebuilding/refreshing.

Anyway, there are slight differences between the several different 4AGE motors, mainly the size of the crank and rods during the different production phases. The kits you list (90-91 Corolla) will have different pistons from all other 4AGE models as well as the 4AGZE. The 4AGZE will have different pistons also, but the main/rod bearings will be the same between all models 88+. The older models prior to 88 will have different crank mains and rod journals. Other differences are in the piston design, which coincide with the crank/rod update, which utilize a full float piston pin as opposed to the older press fit pin.

Well I'm looking for the newer SilverTop 20V from the 92 or 95 corolla, and something with 30-40k miles on it so that it doesnt necesserly need a rebuild...

not a bad idea to pull the valve cover and drop the oil pan to give it a good look over before installing it.

I was talking to Dr.Tweak, he recommended changing the seals... and just cleaning it up... which I will do...
