Just wondering what has to be done and the price for this conversion. I've read the sticky on jdm gt-four hood and bumper but do you have to actually buy all the accessories as well? If so is there a cheaper alternative. Im looking to spend like $1200 for this.

Please use the search engine. Sorry If I sound blunt, but this is one of the most frequently asked question on the forums and the quality of information in previous replies is very high - full part numbers, pictures, diagrams, suggested suppliers and guideline prices are all there.

As far as I know, the Extreme Dimensions C-5 bumper and hood are a clone of the C-One bumper and hood. I was under the impression that Extreme Dimensions only made the GT-Four style version of the C-One bumper.

Now, you can mix and match between the GT-Four bumper/hood and the C-One GT-Four style bumper and hood. So I would expect that the GT-Four hood would fit on a 6gc with the C-5 bumper.

However, you referred to the ST202. The ST202 is the model code for the 6gc GT and ST. ST205 is the model code for the 6gc GT-Four.

If you meant ST205, that is fine. However, if you really did mean ST202 then mixing and matching between the GT/ST (ST202) bumper/hood and the GT-Four (ST205) bumper/hood will leave a gap. With a GT-Four hood and a GT/ST bumper, you get a narrow gap that looks a bit like an air scoop. Some people like the look, others think it looks like a kludge:

IPB Image

With an ST/GT hood and a GT-Four/C-5 bumper, you'll have a ridge in the bumper that won't line up with the hood.

In summary, I would expect the GT-Four hood to fit on a 6gc hatchback, with a c-5 american bumper without a gap. You will need to dig out the GT-Four bumper thread to learn about other parts you'll need. You'll need the GT-Four rubber bumper seal and metal retainer bar at the very minimum (plus some long bolts and some washers). As you said yourself, this is similar to Tufy's setup (he has a GT-Four and the C-One bumper).

Tufy has C-1 bumper which he ordered from japan....im pretty sure that there isnt a knock off C-1 (or c-5)bumper for the 205 chasis.

With all that said the ST202 hood will fit fine with the C-1 bumper providing the C-1 isnt for st205. But if the C-1 is made for the ST205 then u'll deff have a gap.

The confusing thing is that C-One have two different versions of their bumper, to suit both the st202 and the st205, but the C-5 bumper only appears to be available for one style of hood. From the crappy photos I've seen, it is hard to tell which one.

well of course c-one offers the bumper for both st202 models and st205. for example check out extremedimensions website. they offer the c-5 bumper, but you can definatley tell that its made for the st202 model. Any way what knock off company actually make kits for st205 here in the us?

Well the only way to know for sure is if someone orders that kit from them. I wouldn't do it, because they are probably just doping someone into thinking that thats what their car will look like when ordering the kit.

I'm looking to do my GT4 styling conversion soon. I've been looking into the front crashbar issue which I didn't reaslise until after buying the bumper. There seems to be three approaches:
1) Cut the standard ST / GT square crash bar. To me this has Bad idea written all over it so this is out.
2) As per Azian advanced, use a GT4 crash bar and cut the ends to mount to the ST / GT bracket. Seems better but I'm still not convinced about this one
3) I haven't seen a write up on this one, but just heard mention. Get a GT4 crash bar and the right (GT4?) frame brackets:
Frame Bracket RH 57201-20060
Frame Bracket LH 57202-20070
This is the option that I'm interested in doing, but can't find enough information.
Could someone clarify that if I get at GT4 crash bar and the two frame brackets everything will just bolt together and fit propperly on my ST. i.e. Will the GT4 frame brackets fit onto the ST frame bracket mounts. (Accepting that I will have to extend safety latch and support raised rubber seal)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this.

Cheers, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I was considering selling on the bumper as the idea of loosing so much strengh in the crash bar by cutting seemed like such a bad idea.

What is truly needed for a GT-Four Front conversion? I know there are some clips and things you don't really need. Also what is the difference from cutting the st202 crash bar if you are still going to cut the gt-four crash bar, all in all, cutting is still needed. What is the cheapest way to convert?

I did mine with a actual gt4 parts hood, hood scoops, cowel, gt4 hood latch, gt4 crash bar,gt4 reinforment brackets. gt4 fogs and mounts, gt4 foam thing behind the bumper....etc... i think in all it cost me about 1500 before paint.
