I've decided to go with type r component speakers. I know to get 6.5's in the back but should I get 6.5's or 5.25's in the front? Also, I noticed the 6.5's have slightly better ratings than the 5.25's, would I notice the difference? Thanks

i have 6.5" type R's all around. that is what our car is designed for and came with unless you have the premium 8 speaker system then it's 4" up top and 8" below. i'm guessing you have the 6 speaker system like mine. 8"s will fit in the stock location with little to no modification and 6.5"s will need a mounting adapter. if you install it yourself you will need to get these. (i think they sell them on ebay for like $10) or if you have a shop install them they should have some available. the rears will be a perfect fit with the 6.5"
i think that you will really like those speakers. do you already have a sub? if not i highly recommend getting one. that will complete your system. GL ![]() -------------------- |

so I only need a set of mounting adapters for the front? Also I just checked crutchfield and they say 5.25 fits in the front but not the 6.5? I know i'll like them I tested them out in a shop and they had to kick me out of the sound room. I plan on getting a 10in sub but it'll have to wait cuz it'll be about 500 for the speakers and the F550 amp. Thanks for the help

GL ![]() is there really a big difference with an amp powering the speakers? i have heard that it is not really needed,,, that is almost the same just having the built-in that most of the receivers have..... can someone please tell me the difference -------------------- ![]() |

i have a 300w 2 channel amp running my 6.5 diamond audio splits and trust me an amp makes a big difference compared to running off the headunit. i would only run amp with your components in the FRONT but i dont bother with my rear speakers becoz if i power it with amp it may 'interfere' to much with the front which is where i want most of my sound. im just running my rear alpine speakers running off the headunit. perfect.
FRONT = AMP REAR = NO AMP just my 2c This post has been edited by NGHTKD: Jan 11, 2008 - 3:52 AM |

FRONT = AMP REAR = NO AMP just my 2c thats the way im doing it 6.5 mbquart components up front connected to the amp 5.25 rear connected to the deck. its better to have the rears to the deck any ways its only putting a max rms of 60. |
