I bought a front strut bar from another member on here and recieved it today. But when I tried loosing the bolts to install it, they wouldn't budge. After some reaserching on here and other car forums I found that this is a common problem when installing front strut bars. I know most people recommend just putting a LOT of muscle into it, but I'm an average guy and don't have power tools tongue.gif So is there any easier way that you guys know of to loosen the bolts so I can install the bar..? Also I guess the stock spec is to torque to 100 lbs..again I don't have power tools, so what would be the best way to determine 100lbs using regular renches?

Going to need a lot of leverage. Breaker bar and a pipe works wonders. Even better than pneumatic tools some time.

Dude, breaker bar FTW. I'd pick my good ol breaker bar over my impact wrench doing suspension work any day. No lie. Does it really matter if you over torque the top bolts holding the strut?

not over torqing them, but undertorquing would not be good tongue.gif. I think I'll try some WD-40 and a breaker bar. Should be enouph to get them loose, dnt you think? Hopefully will get to use my friend's torq wrench to get it tightened well enouph smile.gif

thnks for the help guys.

its spelled ENOUGH not enouPH.

could be just a little frozen in. ever tried hitting it lightly to see if you can shock it loose. another way is to tighten the bolt then loosening it to get it loose.

Cheater Pipe is your best friend. You can make a DIY version for youself. Take a hollow steel pipe, cut it to your desired length. Mine is around 2.5FT. There you go, a cheater pipe!
