about to buy 4 replacement speakers, but thought id have a look on here first for info on what sizes to get... i have got a little confused looking through the forum on what the best sizes are to get (minimum grief!).

cant seem to find a simple answer. ive read 6.5" all round, 8" all round and then some people seem to think there are different sizes in the front that in the back.

only thing is 6.5 might be the better option, with the 8" range seeming pretty limited?

Also, has anyone tried the Infinty Kappa 653.7i speakers? http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=22421

the kappa's are nice, and i wanna say that you will need an adapter for the front because the speaker is a 6.5 but it is a 8" hole. and then the rear is 6.5.

i think that it is diff if you have the premium sound system but idk exactly what sizes are in that

Ok, yes... he is right it's 8" hole... but you need to remember if you buy 8" you wont be able to pull them out and put in a different car.... if you decide to... I know when I spend 600$ for 4 speakers I will be pulling them out if I sell the car...

I have infinity kappas 6.5 but they're 2 way. All you need is the bracket to install them. And dear god they are sex. Ask Havok, they're beautiful.

"No problem."

I've never seen a rear 5.25" on a 6gc - ever. There is evidently one stock speaker setup i have not seen - that's the one that didn't even get tweets in the mirror triangles. Perhaps that's the one that got 5.25" rears that you speak of?
What I've worked on before:

Vert:
-8" bottom door panel speakers [front]
-4" Center door panel speakers [front]
-Tweets in mirror triangles [front]
-6.25" in the rear panels

Premium sound [with stock amp]
-8" bottom door panel speakers [front]
-Tweets in mirror triangles [front]
-6.25" in the rear panels
-or- *this is by far the most common from what I've seen on both GTs and STs:
-6.25" speakers with 8" brackets - bottom door panel speakers [front]
-Tweets in mirror triangles [front]
-6.25" in the rear panels

And then there is the non amp'd type with same as above [guess this would be non-premium?]
-6.25" speakers with 8" brackets - bottom door panel speakers [front]
-Tweets in mirror triangles [front]
-6.25" in the rear panels

And then there is the setup with no tweets and perhaps 5.25" speakers? I have never seen or owned one of these and I've done systems in probably 25 6gc's. So I can't comment on this setup just yet.
