I've previously installed a boost gauge with 2 light wires (pos + neg). I wired the positive to the positive illumination wire and the negative to the negative illumination wire so they dim with the rheostat.
Now I'm installing a boost gauge on my friends car with 4 wires. They are battery(+), engine ground(-), 12v ignition switch(+), 12v ignition switch(+). So I'm going to guess the battery and engine ground would go to the positive and negative illumination wires respectively. Can someone confirm this? OR are these not "dimmable" gauges? Can someone tell me what the two positive ignition switch wires are for? Thanks in advance. -------------------- ![]() |

what kind of gauge is this ? just google the manual for easy answers.

i have no idea. i think it said glow shift on it. they were super cheap and change colors. thats all i know (im installing it for a friend of mine). mine was trd and a piece of cake. lol. it came with instructions but thats all it said. just the wire labels.

I would guess that the 2 12v ignition wires make it change color. One goes to a normal 12v ignition (when the car is turned on) and the other goes to a 12v when the lights are turned on (usually NOT a variable12v like the dimmer wire). So when you turn the car on they are one color and when you turn the lights on they are a different color.

i ran into this problem when i did mine. the rheostat will work but are these gauges LED...they probably are.....i have an issue that the LED's dim at a different brightness compared to the stock gauge lights. when i would turn up the brightness on the rheostat..my boost gauge would get brighter and my stock gauges get dimmer. and vise versa...i still haven't solved this problem.

You need the + and the - from the lights to go to the same + and - of the dim-able source. wrong example : if you have the + for the lights going to the 12v dimmer wire and the - going to a solid ground, then you have the "vice versa" problem. right way : if you put the + and th - to the light ring (for example) you need the + to go to the + of the ring wire and the - to go to the - of the ring wire. solved.
