Hello Everyone,

A Quick background on my history, I bought my celica compleatly stock but in need of work around 4 years ago, and have loved it and hated it since, I've done tons of mods, removed and redone tons of mods, and gone though 2 motors frown.gif lost the original one due to driving though a fludded road that was far deeper then I though thus seizing the motor, It was replaced by a good shop my parents have gone since I was born and paid for via insurance. I lost the 2nd motor because of two reasons, one it was from a junked camary and apparently in less then great shape (gata love insurance paying for nothing but the bare minimum) and I could have taken better care of it myself anyway and watch for the signs. that was a year ago, and rather then fix it right away I planed on eventualy swapping at 3s into so it waits in storage. Thus I got my Subaru. and have loved it since, AWD, decent power (2.5RS) and the only body style subaru I really like, I've done a few things to it but tired to hold myself back since I want to keep it my daily driver. Not even gana go into my truck as thats mine and my girlfriends so its not for sale.

Now, my celica in its current state looks amazing but does not run. my Subaru in its current state looks good (great shape, mostly stock) and runs great, so hers the question. Around november of last year I got a growing interest in Z's, and 3 test drives later I fell in love with the power, RWD and looks. So my initial plan was to keep the celica, traid in the subaru for a Z. but I just cant part with my subaru so i figure I could sell my celica and just finance a bit more for the Z but then I dont really want to part with my celica either because i have put so much into it I would never get close to what I put into, but then I kind figure well I could sell the celica, and trade in the subaru and finance that much less of a Z and then be able to do some mods to it as well. on top of everything I'm kinda leaning tward just keeping both and for now not getting a Z so that I dont have to worry about the payments for it and since my insurance would only go up. but then again I really want one biggrin.gif

[FYI the "null vote" is mine since I did not want to have to pick one to see the results]

Anyway what do you guys think I should do.? (try to leave out the "HOW COULD YOU SELL YOUR CELICA" posts.)

I'd at least keep the Subie for the AWD aspect cause once it gets to be winter again your going to want it for driving in snow. I wouldn't drive a RWD 350z in snow. 350's are sick as hell, but you could also have alot of fun in the Celica if you built it up right and for cheaper than a 350 would cost probably.

i mainly think Zs are for looks. yea, there are lots of performance products, but they cost a bazillion bucks anyways cuz if ya want em right, ya gotta pay frown.gif

the scoob is an awesome pick. the celica can be made up into a fun-all-in-one car for far less than a Z with financing smile.gif

so..Subaru n Toyota are my picks for ya smile.gif

How is the Z all that expensive? It's around 30k new, and you can find used ones for 15-18k. My Celica, even with the swap and mods and whatnot, is not as fun to drive as the 350Z; I have driven both extensively.

Sell the Celica, keep the Scooby for the winter (or even sell it and buy an older model) and if you can afford it, key word IF, find a Z.

The Z's I've been looking though are 28k-32k, with the features and milage I want, nothing older then an 05 too.

I deff want to keep my subaru for the AWD if nothing else, but at the same time nice 6th gen celicas are rare (A big attraction I have for them is you just don't see them in good shape) and Z's are all over the place.

You have to keep the Subaru, or you'll have to sell it to my friend Rob. AWD>everything.

As for the Celica - you can't sell it now. There is far too much work into that car. My suggestion is to keep the subie and the Celi and ditch the 350. the Z's are infamous for eating oil. My neighbor's wife has gone through two motors in her Z from their oil problems. I've heard nothing but bad things about them.

If anything, sell the RS to my friend and use that money to finance a STi.

At some point you have to sell the car. Way to much work into a car doesn't justify keeping it forever. One day I will sell my car, and there's tons done to it.

I'd say come look at my father's 350z he has for sale, but not only is it on 03, your on the other side of the country. 100k mile warranty though and about 40k on the clock.

Z's are more common because they are newer, less have been destroyed. Z is a better looking, better performing, funner car, period.

The smartest choice is to just keep both, I like em both and there both fun cars, I've not hurd that Z's have much problems. I deff don't want an STI, there are no STI's in the body style I like in the US would have to import one but if that was the case ied get a 22b anyway biggrin.gif

don't technicly ever have to sell the celica unless I end up in serious financial strain I could probably keep it forever weither its worth it or not is the question.

I think for the moment I'm going to keep what I got and get the celica running again, been a year since I drove it may be that once I get behind the wheel again I'll know if I want to keep it or sell it. I would not want a Z over 30k if I'm going to spend that much on something I'm going to get a nice one. almost fell for a nismo edition but thats way over my budget.

I've owned a celica and a Z....when i had my chance to get a Z i completely forgot about the celica. I wouldnt listen too much to the guys here and make the decisions yourself based on your need. The Z was more than capable in wet weather. Unless you gets tons of snow up by where you live, then you have nothing to worry about in the Z during the wet weater(just take it easy).

I would say lose the suby and celica and buy the Z....the Z will suck your money once you start modding it...trust on that

and the power and rwd is intoxicating.

To many people go into debt over buying cars. Why waste the money when you already have 2.

I went to the track last night and saw 4 modded 350z's run 14.8's and higher. Thats weak. Especially considering how much it cost just to mod anything on it.

Forget the 350z, go for a 300 twin turbo or a datsun 240z *drool* if you are wanting a z. They are nice but make sure its something YOU want without a doubt. If you have any doubts about it then I wouldn't do it cuz you'll end up kickin yourself in the arse later. Z's are great cars though.

i think, 10k into the celica, since it doesnt run now, a nice 3s swap plus a bit of extras should get you well over the performance of a 350 (suspension, wheels n tires if you dont have em yet, and more straightline speed/power)

350's are nice, but you;ve held on to the celica this long, i cant see you being happy selling it.

worse case, they still make 350's. so if you change your mind 3-4 years from now, you're still gonna be able to get a 2-3 year old 350 in the condition you want, cant really say that about celica's

thumbsdown.gif on the Z

thumbsup.gif on the Celica

Z's are overrated IMO
yeah its nice and all but really NO space
felt claustrophobic (wonder if that's how it's spelled??) cuz deeep dish seats barely can see over the windshield line........
and being tall just makes it harder to raise the seat and have good comfort.
i feel like a real G when i test drove is laugh.gif

but yeah all in all i love my 6gc to death

You know all those people who end up selling their "fun car" once they start a family. Whether you like it or not, one day that will probably be you. Either due to finances, or a wife saying it has to go, or not enough room in it for the wife and 2-3 kids, etc. =] I say you're only young once. Buy what you'd enjoy driving the most, and have lots of fun while it lasts! wink.gif

As nice looking as Celica's are, don't be obligated to keep it just cause of this sight. Especially if in the end it wouldn't even really been what you enjoy driving (i.e. it's not RWD). I've decided to keep mine for quite a while cause it suits my needs for now. (although I really would like a RWD) =]
