Someone suggested I post this here. This is My 1994 Celica ST, with the complete engine and drivetrain from a 1993 JDM ST185 swapped into it. Its getting close to being done, Engine, drivetrain, and suspension work is done, working on the fuel system and wiring as I post this.
If people show interest, I will post a complete parts list, and pictures of the whole AWD swap in. For now here are a few picts of what it looks like at this point. Take in mind this was a wrecked car to start with, So most of the front end is new. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Are you going to put the power steering back, or just have fun in parking lots?
![]() Looks like a pretty decent project. I am definitely interested in how you did the rear subframe and driveshaft... I'd suggest that you get a real Spearco core instead of the crappy XS Power one. I've seen both in person and you will get much better performance out of the Spearco. Also, the water flow through the XS Power core is horrible, and you will have trouble filling it all the way with water (there is no way to bleed air out of it). I would also suggest going back to the stock exhaust manifold. Port it if you want more flow.... Or at the very least, make sure you put plenty of heat protection around the manifold you have in there now - you will be melting that coupling and cracking the manifold if you aren't careful. -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

Water flow seems to be just fine, but I am using a Meziere water pump. The stock manifold? , I'm not sure what your trying to get across there, this manifold will flow more than stock, no matter how much its ported. As far as heat melting the coupler, I guess the picture is pretty decieving, for the coupler is nearly 2" from the manifold. I suppose if needed a heat shield could be fabbed up. Ive got these manifolds installed on 2 other cars, and have not had isuues with cracking. |

The problem with using that manifold is that it will only be a matter of time till it cracks on you, so just keep an eye on it. Stock cast manifolds have been used by the mr2 guys on very high hp cars with great success. There are a few threads about this on mr2oc.
Anyway... welcome to the site, its always nice to see another swap on here, especially one with an upgraded turbo. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Anyway... welcome to the site, its always nice to see another swap on here, especially one with an upgraded turbo. Ive been installing SS Turbo manifolds on just about every turbo kit I Install, and have friends with the exact manifold on their 3sgte's, and have never had issues with them, I know they are more prone to fatigue cracks, if the weight of the turbo/manifold are not supported properly. Hey you never know what can happen though, ill be sure to keep an eye on it. Then again for the price, Id replace it every year, if it meant not putting the stock cast manifold back on. For those interested in a parts list, ill try to throw it all up this weekend. as far as price, lol you prolly dont really want to know. All said and done were looking at close to 18,000, but there really isnt much left that even resembles stock. That includes the cost of the car, the frame straighting, misc body parts, the clip, rear cradle/driveshaft, machine shop costs, and an absolutely huge list of aftermarket parts. To look at the pictures of how it sits rite now, you wouldnt think theres that much there, but it adds up so quick. |

the stocker manifold actually performs better. a turbo is partly driven by heat. heat is lost with thin tube manifolds. (I've cracked one of the manifolds with all the proper bracing) the cast iron holds all the heat and helps drive the turbo.
How much power are you looking at making? are your 3sgte friends on this site? -------------------- |

How much power are you looking at making? are your 3sgte friends on this site? The bulk of the work is done by the engine pushing the exhaust out. Although I will concede the turbine is partially driven by the hot exhaust gases wanting to expand. I suppose if your needing to pull every ounce of power, then the extra 10hp from having a ported stock manifold that holds in heat is for you. LoL. Now if we could stop talking about my ****ty manifold, thats going to crack to pieces, and cause the deaths of a small somoen family? LoL |

It took a little thinking, but I assume it was done right: The inner/chassis connections of each arm are all level with each other and then the crossmember pretty much would level and locate itself. Its not a project I would want to take on myself (why I bought my own version of an Alltrac!), but the rear end work on this is nice and looks like it should work out well.
