In my perpetual quest for perfect custom gauges, I have removed my cluster - ONCE again - much to the amusement and chagrin of my coworkers. I have FINALLY found the thread outlining the sanding bit but it doesn't exactly specify just how much to sand off the back and with what grit paper. Do you sand down till those white dots are gone? Or just a "surface" touch up because those white dot thingies have yellowed with age and time and that's why my lovley LED-lit cluster lookes like diluted pee?

Thanks!

Haha, you used the word chagrin. That's a word I don't hear enough of. That and cantankerous.

LOL laugh.gif

yea so i still dont get how ur gauges look like pee or what u need to sand cuz the link wit pics showed the back of the factory cluster that just looked like a clear textured surface. Is that what makes your gauges look yellow? if u want custom or somthing a lil diff try speed hut or you could try to make ur own with the help of this link. im no good with photoshop so i went to speedhut for mine.
g/l with your pee gauges lol

You guys all suck biggrin.gif This thread ostensibly contains a veritable cornucopia of cantankerous guys.

Anyway I figured out on Friday about 2 hours later when no one would help Death with his horn wiring and no one even TRIED to attempt anything about sanding the back of the gauge faces that I was on my own. 22re - it's the actual back of the gauge face when you pull it up from the clear plastic. The back side of it has like a black and white dot pattern. That's what shall we say "filters" the light resulting in its undesirable output.

So I used nylon scotch-brite stuff on it till the black stuff was gone. Now it's crisp and bright LED white! Faboo!
