stock alt is only 85 amps so i am replacing it with a 200 amp out put =P and doing a big three upgrade and second battery in the trunk so voltage drops are not going to be a problem.
also i changed the set up to 8 10's lol and i have 8 300 watt amps so i am going to run each sub on their own amp till i can buy 2 other amps that i can wire to one ohm so each woofer will see 184 watts rms witch is not much but with 8 of them it addes up fast. and i can get 12 cubic feet in the mini wall so space will not be a problem and the mini wall will be completly closed off from the trunk so it will have the same effect as a wall but i will still have a back window to look out of witch is always nice ordered subs and amps today spent $400 for the 8x10's and 300 watt amp per sub and all the wiring to get them going

hey well where are you getting this alt from cause i am having a lot of trouble finding one that will put out more than 110 amps at idle and no one in my area will rebuild to high output, and how is this mini wall going to go into you car and how about woofer and port placement this is interesting because i am about to wall off my 2 18s in my hatch

not 100% on the box yet i have a few ideas on sketch-up (my roomate rocks at with that program) and have not decided on a final idea but i think its going to end up with a W shape with 2 subs on each plane ill load the sketch-up pics when i find out how to do it lol and the alt i am buying is also 110 at 1000 RPM's but for a comp my car is set for 2000 RPM's so it will put out 200 amps just got a call back and my subs and amps wont be here for up to 2 weeks... i dont know whats up with this we have always had next day delivery but this is going to take 2 weeks... gay!

well where is this alt coming from cause all i can get if ohio gen to put out 140 at 1000rpm idle but it wont do near 200 at 2000 so i would like to know cause i am in need of an alt,

and i dont know if that alignment will be your best option but it would be cool to see but its hard to really get the pick and to upload the images you have to export the sketch up image and upload them onto photobucket or w/e you use

called my distributor and ill be getting my subs before next weeked! fun fun and ill ask my roomate for the site when he is not about to die (we both have the flu) lol sucks and ill try to upload the pics of the box but i was looking at the a few car audio mags i have and think i have better idea for the 8x10's i think the first box should be simple so just a 2 plane wall with ports on the top 4 os 6 4in areo ports turned to 28 HZ the FS in the woofers is 29 so thats no big deal so far with this box idea ill need to cut a little sheet metal to square up the opening that leads into the trunk and drop into the trunk about 8-12 inchs to get 12 cubic feet ill start taking pics this weekend when i start to sound deaden the car... any one know a good way to do inside the front doors?

well the thing about the celica is it has no window support on the top so yes its very possible that i could indeed (blow out my windows) but other than those i am not worried about the front rear or side windows lol but that thought of blowing out my windows is kinda cool but not likely to happen to any windows besides the front driver/passenger

if you wanna go with this design i would deff use more port area if you wanna use four ports i would go with 6in ports and other than that for the score that you wanna reach this seems like cone area will be the way to go and it will pound the lows this is why i would up the tunning a bit 28hz is very low and most music only goes down to 30hz being tuned that low you could possible loss a lot of the upper range, i would go between 32-36 hz

but it looks really good and i look forward to build pics

ya i was thinking the same thing with the tunning but i love pounding 20 hz and playing below your turned Freq. blows woofers but i think with cabin gain i can get away with 35hz tunning and not have to worry about it so ya good call thanks for the advice man keep it coming wink.gif

so i thought about it and called and canceled my order on the woofers and ordered the other stuff i think it makes more sense to wire the car up and sound dead'n it before getting the woofers b/ if i buy the woofers first i would have to sit their for a month with a bunch of woofers and not be able to do anything with them... so ya pics of the wiring and big 3 and all the will up some time this weekend or mid next week if i have time this weekend to work on it

well if you are gonna deaden the car, i would go with something that is not assphalt as that will make the car smell and is not as good as a butyl mat and if you want something not to expensive RAAmat is a good choice and the best is secondskin mat, if you wanna go really cheap if you can find protecto wrap hip and ridge tape at homedepot or lowes it will do the trick because it is a foil backed butyl product peal and seal will also work however it is an asphault product but if you clean the car it seems to work good for people

so for being long winded but what were you thinking of using?

even with my dealer discount Raamat is 100+ for a trunk package... and my goal is under a 800 total build cost so i am thinking about peal and seal and just clean the surface off very well and maybe double layer it if needed and any one know a way to deaden the inside of the doors?

instead of the 4 round ports you could look at doing a slot port there. more port area but doesn't take any more space. just a thought

AR port's are more effiecent than a slot port and creat's less noise i dont think port area will be a problem in this case but if it sounds funny or makes a buzzing sound ill rebuild it with a slot for sure but i have the AR ports now and they are way easier to install

peal and seal works and your right just clean the metal first, and to do the inside of the doors all you can really do is just slide your hand in there and push it on there really is no trick to doing it, and you will need more port area for 12ft^3

the needed port are per ft^3 is 12-16in^2 and 4 4in ports is perfect for 4ft^3 not 12 lol, but you deff could do it, it would just not be optimal

also a good thing for the doors would be to expanding foam the seam on the inside cause i know in my car ive been driving with out a door pannel for about a week and i noticed a lot of air coming threw the door on the inside and doing that would help a lot of rattle and seal it up which would help on the db side

ya i re calculated the amount of port area i need and i am about 4-6 Ap's short of having enough lol.. so i am going to buy the peal and seal now and see if i can pick up a few things of foam depending on cost i am going to install that on sunday and if i can do it all in a day then ill start the big three upgrade my alt wont get here for like 3 weeks.... so ya thats gay and i was at the shop last night and some kids from town came in and said they want to challenge us to a SPL comp. with a single sub set up with under 45 HZ tuning and the amp has to be rated under 2000 watts rms so i might change my build for that for now just to shut them up lol i want to go with a fusion NV 12 inch 2 ohm DVC in a 14x14x36 box with 3 external AP and see if i can post a 145 or higher if not then ill think of something else let me know what you guys think

well i could get someone that i know to desgin a really good box if you have demensions, and i would say that for a fart box you really just need to build and test and build and test, but 2ft^3 at 40hz or so might be able to get you a 145 or so but thats hard for just a single 12 it can be done though
