I have been trying now to almost get the most perfect idle for my 3s, its bascially there, but it jumps very slighty sometimes, i have it a 750 sitting near perfect most of the time, but i want to know what makes it jump up to 800 sometimes or even a little more then that, i have done timing, cap and rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, anything else can someone say to help my idle be perfect, thanks what are key things that make the idles perfect?

try seafoaming your injectors and throttle body like Valo666 did.
Or you can go to Mr. Lube and ask for a stage 4 fuel man. job, it'll cost approx 100 but its well worth it. They'll clean out ur fuel rail i believe, your fuel lines, ur intake system, ur injectors, ur throttle body and such. It'll help on fuel con. and improve performance by a bit. |

Do a boost leak test. You probably have a very small vac leak.
Keep in mind too that your idle will go up every time your fans come on or if you turn your steering wheel. Proper idle should be about 800rpm. This post has been edited by lagos: Feb 27, 2008 - 11:36 PM -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I've been replacing vacuum hoses and IC couplers for 2 months but I'm pretty sure I haven't caught everything. Mine acts like his but a bit more extreme. -------------------- ![]() ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. Have you got the vacuum pipes that run down the back of the engine to the power steering pump?? the often go brittle and crack. I wouldnt worry much about a 3sgte hunting a bit on tickover, you`ll be very lucky to get a spot on tickover.

No as a matter of fact. I tugged on them to see if I could get the idle to drop and nothing but I should go ahead and replace them. Where do they go on the power steering exactly?
I know exactly what you mean about the hunting but this can be a bit more pronounced [sometimes as high as a 750RPM increase - especially when the Turbo timer is engaged]. When it's just hunting after idle down or whatever it just comes down rather slowly but hits a specific idle and wont' vary most of the time. What gets me is the idle can be diff each time sometimes and act perfect other times. Here is the basic idea behind a boost leak test..
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html once you fill the motor up with compressed air, use a spray bottle filled with soapy water to spray down all of your connectors. Youll see bubbles forming around the area of your leak. You have to get under the car to see the 2 vac lines that go to the power steering. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Probably not completely necessary - I think that just controls the engine idle up when you turn the wheel while sitting still. If t's not hooked up and you turn the wheel you should see your engine RPMs drop a little.
